Meh, as someone said, only an ND fan would take Weis over Ty. I don't think anybody else watched the UCLA/ND game today, but thats pretty much the way a lot of Ty's 1 decent season went at ND. Defense, Special Teams, and a lot of luck (Like Olson going down today) pulled out some wins. Ty's offense wasn't always as inept as Weis's was today, but his teams were not improving and recruiting was getting worse. While Weis has definitly had more than a rebuilding year, at least his recruiting is going up rather than down.
I can't fault Ty for not being a standout individual, he represented the university well as a person. As a football coach he was not improving the team, and he did love to point out "moral victories." I feel like a win is a win, and any loss is still a loss. Weis is arrogant when he wins, but this season he has pointed out in post game interviews that ultimately its his fault for not having the team prepared. He also does not trumpet any moral victories, because they mean nothing in the "W" column.
I still think Ty is a good coach, but I don't think he was right for Notre Dame's program. He did well at Stanford and seems to be turning Washington around. Theres a number of coaches I wouldn't mind having before Weis, but I think things will settle a bit after this year.
