Wilco are working on their next album, tentatively titled Get Well Soon Everybody. Could arrive as early as September.

The finished album may be one of the group's most adventurous yet. "I do think it's a little bit more obnoxious and irreverent of a pop record than people have heard from us, maybe, ever," he says. "And that's exciting. But I have no doubt that the second this record becomes available there's somebody sitting in a basement at their computer with the word 'meh' already typed up, waiting to post a review."

Wilco's first release on their own label

"I Might" b/w "I Love My Label"

The A-side sounds like it would have fit in quite nicely on Spoon's Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. They've let the rhythm section show their stuff instead of letting the song sink into a triple guitar circle jerk.

On their last couple albums, Wilco has reminded me of the comedian whose jokes you applaud but don't really laugh at. You know it's good, but it doesn't really entertain like it should. I hate saying that because they're my all-time favorite band. The new single is more fun and more interesting than most of their other recent material. Maybe it's a sign that they're breaking out of that rut that I perceive them to be in.

My favorite album of the year thus far.

I was a little later than I had planned getting into this one. I bought it when released, but just didn't take the time to listen. Since this weekend though I've had Holocene and Towers on repeat - and stuck in my head the rest of the time when not listening. So, so good.

There's apparently a trailer for the upcoming Wilco album, with a taste of the first track "Art of Almost". For better or worse, it sounds like it could be one of the most interesting things they've done since A Ghost is Born.
