Got a email from my parents today stating their electric just came on this morning. Went out Friday during the storms. Guess my one sister still doesn't have any power near Bellefontaine.

Talked to my dad this evening when I got home and their yard is a mess and part of their fence is gone, but the house is OK. He is convinced a tornado touched down near them Friday.

Glad everyone is OK.

I'm thinking I should post this in the "How does work make you feel today" thread since I am so grateful for AC. Dryden and I are still without power from Friday's storm. Lancaster had several areas that were hit pretty bad. It is getting up to and sometimes over 85 degrees in our house during the day. We have to constantly make our kids drink water to keep them from getting dehydrated. We are lucky to have water so we can keep them cool by giving them a bath or filling up their pool.

I have loved the responses that we see in our neighborhood. Teenagers were out in force on Saturday morning helping to rake up yards and cut up trees for our elderly neighbors. Neighbors across the street with power were offering food storage in their homes for those without power. They were also offering to let people hang out in their homes, do their laundry, cook food, charge phones etc. Our neighborhood church has an ice machine and started giving bags away today since ice is hard to find in town. We have people that we work with bringing us bags of ice as well. My parents drove down to set us up with a heavy duty/insulated cooler and a Coleman stove. I have definitely been seeing more good deeds than bad during this time.

Isn't it a shame that it only happens in times like this?? (talking about the whole teenager thing)

I went to the airport to pick up my other half's mother and it was like I drove into a hurricane! The entire time I was on 417 I could barely see more than about 15 feet in front of my car, and driving up and over a bridge I thought for sure the wind might take my car and toss it across the road as I had to really push it to keep my speed up. Absolutely ridiculous, but thankfully it had subsided by the time I was driving back home.

Oh, and to add to the fun, shortly before I got to the airport exit my passenger side wiper decides to stop working!
