this website says grand isle gets about 56 average precip, id be willing to bet 99% of that falls as rain. i know areas like that often have large variances based on currents, water/land interactions, etc. but that should put it in the ball park for reag.WOW!

I'll take SW Michigan's coastline (and lack of salt water) over California anyday. Much easier to find secluded beaches than Cali. The western beaches are more beautiful (particularly the ones where you can't lounge), but there's simply too many people.
