this website says grand isle gets about 56 average precip, id be willing to bet 99% of that falls as rain. i know areas like that often have large variances based on currents, water/land interactions, etc. but that should put it in the ball park for reag.

Bought a little bag of mini-candy bars at the Dollar Store on my lunch break, and forgot them in my car when I got back to work.

the line at the 98th represents the line of agriable land, ie where you can farm without irrigation (although some of the areas are irrigated anyways to increase yields).

I've spent more time in the south & silicon valley, neither of which I liked. San Francisco is fun to visit, wouldn't want to live there. NorCal might be more my style, haven't had the pleasure of visiting.
If you give me the choice between an average house and a great yard/location over a great house and a small lot, I'll take the first one every time.
Maybe that's my Pennsylvania upbringing, who knows.

I'd like to live in San Diego (never LA) for about 6 weeks out of the year (1-2 of which I'd be vacationing anyway). During the other 46, I'm glad I live where the seasons change. The spring, summer, fall & early winter months are great in the midwest.
Pretty girls are nice to look at, but they have those everywhere. If you're that desperate, just go be the creepy guy lurking on campus.
As for beaches, well you've got Buckeye Lake beat I'll take SW Michigan's coastline (and lack of salt water) over California anyday. Much easier to find secluded beaches than Cali. The western beaches are more beautiful (particularly the ones where you can't lounge), but there's simply too many people.
