welp, Laura is currently projected to hit a near identical spot as Rita.

that flooded the hell outta the entire southern half of this parish (including my hometown).

Really hoping for a non-repeat as i’m not in near as good of a financial spot as i was in ‘05.
I dont know if it matters but latest track i see shifted it was some more and i see reports saying it wont be as BIG as Rita.... hopefully this is some better news for you ... still prayin for ya man

multiple things in our favor:

A. our currently levee is taller and wider than it was in 05.
B. Rita was an absolutely enormous Cat 5 when located roughly where Laura is now.
C. Rita passed closer to the coast than Laura will while traveling west.
D. Laura is hauling ass compared to Rita (forward speed).

stay safe man...

this is the damndest thing i ever saw.

Marco passed directly over me, but dissipated into absolute nothing.
Now the biggest baddest storm to ever hit the western half of the state (150mph winds) is making landfall right now and i’m juuuuuuust outside of it.

so 2 storms in one week.
i’ve gotten very little rain (early today) and a couple windy squalls but nothing crazy.

that’s it.
i’m freaking believable.

Drive to Ohio

Why not?

that will happen one day.

From what I've seen so far on twitter this morning, most of central Lake Charles is severely damaged....there are some videos of the Weather Channel people getting pelted with glass coming out of the hotel windows when they broke.

yeah Lake Charles got hit pretty good.
shows what those kinds of winds can do.

but at the same time, they got extremely lucky.
had the storm been a little farther west , they would have gotten 100mph winds PLUS a wall of water.
