Do you actually do snow plowing? I've always thought it would be kinda fun to do that.
It's actually how I learned to drive. I do have a plow truck, but it never leaves the driveway. Lately I've been using a tractor with a snowblower or a big diesel tractor with a bucket. It is fun, provided you don't have to work on equipment in -5 temps.

Got about 8 inches here in Indy area right now. These aholes have no clue how to handle snow and plowing here, it is a pumpkin mess. I laugh at the little pickups they use. Even funnier is the people on twitter saying what a great job they are doing...pumpkin clueless...

That's similar to when I used to live in the Deep South and they got snow (as opposed to when I grew up in Ohio). When I used to live in New York, sometimes they got after it. Other times they could give a darn.

I remember the joke was that one flake could cancel school in Virginia. There were quite a few days we were playing outside all day without jackets due to the miracle of "ice on the back roads." No idea how incredibly far "back" those roads had to be, since the ones we knew were all clear, but we sure were grateful for them.

Spent my childhood in Virginia, too, alternating between Richmond and Williamsburg.

One of the most severe disappointments of my youth happened around snow there. It was bedtime on a week night, and snow was falling--big, beautiful, fat flakes piling up on our doorstep. Went to bed ecstatic, knowing school would be cancelled and there would be snow to play in. Woke up in the early AM and ran to the door, flung it open and saw...pounding rain. The temp had shifted overnight, and all the wonderful snow was washed away. I can still see that damn, dark doorstep being pummeled by that blasted rain. It was the day I learned I could be betrayed by Mother Nature.

Getting ready for the next big one today. Up here in my corner of the state ( Fulton County, about 30 miles west of Toledo) they're basically calling for full scale blizzard conditions this evening and overnight.
10-12 inches of new snow(on top of the 9 we earlier this week) Sustained winds over 30 mph with gusts approaching 60, and the temp falling to below zero by tomorrow morning. Wind chills near -40. I know the whole state is supposed to be affected by this storm, and just hope everybody out there stays safe. I'm usually something of a weather geek, I'm the one running outside to watch the storm when the sirens go off, but this one has me a little worried. I survived the Blizzard of 78, but the forecasters are comparing this storm to that........other than it won't last 3 days. Very dangerous situation for anyone caught outside by this one! Everybody in the path of this storm please stay safe and take the proper precautions!
