How does work make you feel today?

averaging about 82 hours per week right now (being on salary, that really sucks).
haven't had a full weekend off since October.

I'm carrying the load of 3 people thanks to some changes in the structure around the office.
some nights I stay 3 hours late just to attempt to get caught up on paperwork, and other things that just don't get done during the day.
this past Saturday, I put in 13 hours of just catchup work.

I'm tired. I'm aggravated, and don't even have time to drink to help combat the frustration.

all signs point to us getting even busier.

we currently have 30 field guys working in our biggest customer's 2 yards (we only have 33 total field guys employed right now).
they want 4 more starting Monday in one yard, and as many as 6 more mid-week in the other yard.

this is on top of our typical day to day work and not counting the 25 guys needed for an upcoming project in a different customer's yard.

handling/shuffling personnel has been an absolute nightmare.
we are paying for housing of 10 people currently who normally would work at our Texas location, and paying all travel expenses for 4 guys who normally work out of our New Orleans Location.

and hiring anyone worth a shit hasn't been easy either.
anyone decent with any experience is already working and either not interested in moving this close to Christmas, or wants more money than we should realistically pay someone in their position.

Why is it that the one job that I would really like to go for and seems like a great fit is also the one that would have me doing a 2.5 hour round trip commute? It had to be in Tampa...hopefully the interview on Tuesday pans out the way I'm hoping.

90+ hours is a distinct possibility this week.

we have hired a few new guys who may actually make it.
unfortunately, we have also now fired 2 guys, and a 3rd informed us today that this afternoon he was heading off to jail for the next 22 months due to Parole Violation.

both guys that have been shit canned deserved what they got and had it coming for a while.
the only reason it hasn't happened sooner is because we're so short handed.

I got another one in my crosshairs right now.
his day is coming. I just hope I get the honors of telling him his services will no longer be needed.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow when I get to take his company truck from him.

we're up to 34 field guys working 12 hour days 7 days a week right now.
and this asshole (who really is in over his head) is demanding special treatment.

wants his own Hotel room, refuses to stay in the house we have for out of towners, and also is requesting per diem for days he works.
and he's asking this on a day where he refuses to help us out by going 10 minutes out of his way to pick something up on his way to work this morning.

The company holiday party is in a couple of hours and I can't wait for all these people to get out of the office and stop bugging me so I can get some work done this afternoon.

No, I don't go to the party. I don't enjoy seeing grown ups act like idiots when they have had too much to drink, the food is always awful, and I usually end up fighting off some drunk old broad who thinks the office party is a chance hook-up with co-workers. Yuck.

EDIT: In the office today, and my payroll girl is here and told me that most people left the party early as it was boring. lol Glad I stayed int he office and got caught up instead.

Dude is workin 80+ hrs a week outside and he's not getting a per diem and his own hotel room? What kind of Mickey Mouse operation do you work for? Shit, my first job out of HS was for a fucking crook that employed kids fresh out of HS, sent them halfway across the country, then threatened to report the rental car stolen if we didn't stay an extra week, and he gave us per diem and a hotel room.

My boss is a real dick. He took off all last week for vacation, so now I have to stay late today to get his work caught up. It's Christmas Eve, you miserly son of a bitch!

the dude is driving a company ruck, with free gas, and we offered him housing in a place where we stock the fridge and pantry.

If that ain't good enough, do what he rest of our locals do.
drive their own trucks, pay for their own gas, and buy their own groceries.

Christmas Eve is my favorite work day of the year. We have to be open because our customers and the USPS are open, yet we know nobody is going to call, so we all show up 'just in case,' even though the worst case scenario has never happened once in the past 20 years. Basically, we show up at 8:00 with food in hand, have a huge company wide pot luck breakfast at 9:00, then go home at noon. Plus we get paid for an 8 hour day. Anyone that burns a vacation day on Christmas Eve at my co. knowing the routine is an idiot.

I have no sympathy whatsoever for anyone who decided to visit this area this week. If you really think that the two weeks that literally every school in the country (not to mention a lot of the world) has off, along with most people having at least 3 days off during the course of those two weeks means everyone is staying home for the holidays, I have an ocean view property in Nebraska to sell you.
