How does work make you feel today?

In limbo since my new Windows 8 laptop is not compatible with our legacy system. Thank you, IT, for thoroughly checking into this before buying me my new laptop ("Oh, I am sure you won't have any problems"). :mad1:

As a former vendor for MS - that's just retarded. You really should file some type of ticket or complaint to your IT department.

Is it any surprise that the clients that negotiate you down to the bare minimum are the ones on that backside that take up most of your day managing.

Is it okay to fire a client? I think so when they are costing you more than they are worth.....

Yes, I have fired clients when their contract became negative and they did not want to re-negotiate. In fact, depending how my meeting goes this afternoon, I might be firing one of those negative contracts later today.

you can have clients / jobs / orders that are negative in the end and still do good if you are absorbing fixed costs.

as long as the variable contribution margin is positive and you aren't limited by capacity, you should take the client / job / order even if at the end of the day you don't make gross profit on it or not.

Okay, the first 30 min of today has been frustrating. Lady, I need the files you attached in an email back in October. (I even showed her the printout of these emails that show the dates).

I DON'T CARE ABOUT EMAILS 3 MONTHS LATER, WHICH HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT IM ASKING ABOUT!

The reality of the situation is that the President and the VP of Sales negotiated a bad contract that had one intent. That intent was to have the splash of having a high profile client. Unfortunately we are a very tiny organization and the client is crushing us with their demands to the point where we can't pay attention to our other full paying clients.

The end result could prove to be fatal....

Last day at my current job tonight. Start a day shift tech support/QA position with a different company come Monday. Probably means less surfing from work for awhile and the wifey still works nights as a nurse, so that sucks. Better pay, no more government holidays or pagers, yay :)

Can you run your legacy software from a virtual machine in the meantime? Not that I'm trying to get you back to work :wink2:

Excited, but stressed. Got a call last night about an opportunity I figured was on hold for quite a while as the manager for that area has been over in Shanghai working on stuff for the new park and my manager and I had no clue when he would be back. Now I need to have a portfolio ready ASAP for an interview that will probably be Tue.-Thur. sometime, and I have no clue where to start, since this would be my first real creative job requiring a portfolio.
