How does work make you feel today?

Just found out that I'm working at least 8 hours tomorrow, but probably closer to 12. Unfortunately the guy they had lined up to provide coverage was in a nasty car accident at some point yesterday and broke his leg....well at least they told me today and not tomorrow at like 6am or something....

In class for the rest of the week. so I've gone from a 12 shift starting at 8AM on Saturday, to working 3 to midnight for the past two days, to working days today (8am to 4PM) to being in class tomorrow (8AM to 5PM)....sleep whiplash much?

This portfolio is going to do me in. Of course, not expecting the hiring manager to return from Shanghai for a while yet didn't help, thought I would have a month or more to work on it.

At least I did meet with one of the folks interviewing me a few months ago, so she knows me and has seen some of my work.

Never would have thought an infographic would be so hard to build. Of course, the pressures of the circumstances probably aren't helping. I finally banged out a rough layout sketch after banging my head against the wall in front of my computer for a good 3 hours, so I think its time to call it a night and get back to this thing in the morning.

I started a new job about a month ago.

I left a really cush job I'd held for 10 years.
old job was sweet, but I was topped out, and other than owning the place, had no room for advancement. ever.

so I'm at a new place, a little lower on the totem pole than my old gig.
working a shit ton of hours (which sucks, because I'm paid on salary).
but the potential for growth and advancement are almost endless.

this could be the type of job I've always wanted.
a place that I can climb the ladder, and set myself up nicely for retirement.

For the last week or so, I've been wanting to shake people and yell "just do what I fucking tell you!"

It's not hard, people. I use small words when talking to your dumb asses.

Maybe try talking to their faces next time.

I was the lucky one who drew the short straw on who is running the business today, since all the big wigs wanted a long weekend. Fun fun fun.

I would, but their heads are buried so far up their aforementioned nether regions...
