How does work make you feel today?

It all starts at the top. If top management takes care of their employees, then most likely the employees will take care of them. Funny thing is the CEO and COO wanted people to give me a bad reference. The vice president of business development said he would give me a great reference along with 2 other people in high positions. They basically said you busted your ass off and just had a minor meltdown. It doesn't take away what I gave them for over 3 years. Our past CEO would take care of everybody. The money and bonuses he would put in the employees 401k and bank accounts was amazing. The morale was great on the floor and those guys kicked ass. The new CEO comes in and morale sinks. When I left a few months ago, the quality was awful and the production rates were not where they needed to be. It was so sad. My bonus actually went down almost a 100% from 2012 to 2013. Only because of poor upper management decisions and I found out the bonus that our CEO got along our new Human Resources guy. I have never been so mad. It would be a great place to work, but only takes a couple of assholes to ruin that.

Soooo....can we see the text that got you fired?

Soooo....can we see the text that got you fired?

Text was nothing special. It said I was no longer an employee effective June 26th,2014 and basically they terminated me on that date. He actually sent the text on July 7th when I was at Monument Valley. I just sent a smart ass reply by telling him why did it take that long to send it and he didn't even have the balls to call me. I had scheduled to take my vacation the following week on July 3. Our logistics/shipping manager was on his honeymoon the week that I left. What really pissed me off was that I was doing his job along with mine with no help what so ever. I told several people to hire somebody or just get a temp because the Shipping/Planning departments work load was too much due to the increased volume of our company. Only 3 guys (which includes me) ran the whole show when it came to the planning, scheduling, logistics, IT, creating work orders, and offline department plans. None of us had been on vacation in the 3 years that I was there. We just took "spot" days. We scheduled our vacations months in advance. They didn't do a damn thing for us to be prepared for the madness.

I just sat at my desk and typed out an email in 20 minutes. I sent the email and walked out the door. I told them that I was coming back after my vacation but I knew they were going to fire me. I told them the only way you are getting rid of me is to fire me.Of course I went home and actually took a nap because of the 17-18 hours I was at work the previous day. When I woke up, my phone was filled with texts and voice mails. I only had 2 people call me from the front office and they weren't part of upper management if that even tells you anything. Hell, I know several of my friends from the front office still may have that email in their inbox. I may even share that email if I can get it. Most people said it was a great email except for the ("you can go fuck yourselves").

So I was working at a shit job. My baby mama is pursuing her bachelor degree at tOSU Newark. She was taking classes with a local small business owner. They became friendly and the lady asks her if she knows anyone that is looking for work. I go interview, hired on the spot. Busted my ass for six months. Asked the boss (in JUNE) if it was cool for me to miss a week when business slowed down at the end of august to take my daughter to Disney and visit one of my two best friends that lives in Orlando. No problem. I buy four round trip tickets for $1100, to take my daughter, my girlfriend, and her son. The Monday before our trip, she tells me I don't have a job.

So we still went, but couldn't afford Disney. After i had already told my 3yr old. Smh.

Anyway, after putting in about 15 apps, finally got a job. Going back to warehouse and operating machines. Thanks to everyone who was concerned.

Been a hell of a busy last 2 weeks but feeling good. Looks like I have a new opportunity within the company that I'd had my eyes on.

Also have tomorrow off work so I can go to Nashville for a bachelor party weekend. Game. On.

Just got a surprise promotion at work.

Taking on the R&D department.

Will be glad to get away from being a generalist manager type and getting back to just managing the plastic / product development.

I left money on the table coming here but figured it would work itself out eventually since I am friends with the owner. Seems to be happening finally a year later.

Good day for the VG today.

I gotta say, maybe the economy is getting better finally.

Got offered a job out of the blue today by one of my two remaining dream employers, three if you count the Federal Reserve. Maybe when they switch to plastic dollar bills I will get that call . . . .

Basically a cold call, but I have known the guy in charge and their staff for 10 years or so (used to be one of their largest customers; was the purchasing & technical contact aka gatekeeper to the $$$ so we are close; conservatively they have invested at least 1,000 beers towards my account). Didn't even bother to talk money, just told them no, or better yet, not right now.

Haven't been head hunted in quite some time. Used to happen a bunch until something like 2008 - 2009 and then it just dried up.

Perhaps I am wrong on this economy being a farce / death to the money changers thing?

Last job deer hunting season was a big fucking issue for covering the shop. This shop is high school football. Plastic people got their priorities straight in life.

And to be perfectly honest, I can't think of a better field than plastics. Nobody studies it hardly, those who do all seem horrible in business. Low cost natural gas drives low cost plastic which drives the manufacturing economy. Greed and politicians didn't send our jobs overseas, cost did. Cost can bring them all back right now based on material cost alone, even at $20 an hour labor here vs say $0.50 in BFE. Instead of being in the high volatility part of manufacturing, you are selling shovels into the gold rush. The only job better would be printing money out of thin air.

Would recommend plastics to anyone on BP.
