Archie, Keith (had to watch old highlights to see how tremendous he was), Eddie and MoC are ahead of Carlos to me. Carlos was simply a man possessed this year, and outdid what was a great year last year. But, imo even if he hadn't been suspended he wouldn't be over the names ahead of him. But still a great RB that will be remembered

I put him at 5, but now that I look at it a bit more, I think 6, just after Robert Smith, would have been more appropriate.

1. Archie
2. Eddie
3. Keith Byars
4. Mo C
5. Robert Smith
6. Hyde
7. Beanie
8. Snow
9. Spencer
10. Pittman

unlike the Shazier thread and the Roby thread, any Buckeye team of any era could win with any of these guys in the backfield. Ohio State has been truly blessed with superior talent at running back. This list doesn't even include guys like Michael Wiley, Pepe Pearson, Jonathan Wells, Boom Herron, etc....

I can't put Hyde over Beanie unless durability is one of the biggest factors.
Beanie would have won a Heisman running behind this years line and Hyde, had he not been suspended for 3 games , would have gone to New York but not won.
Then you have Keith Byers, who had he not broke a foot, may well have won a Heisman. Byers had a better line than Beanie! So, in my mind, Beanie was probably better than Byers.
Eddie George had a great line, also.

In no particular order, I put Archie, Eddie, Beanie, and Byers DEFINITELY above Hyde. I then put Maurice Clarett above Hyde, too, but I'm second-guessing myself on that one. So with those 5 above Hyde, I put Hyde 6th. But I agree with whoever said that that's a pretty awesome list to find yourself on.

So we are talking post 1970? If not.. then all the Heisman winners go up top..

1. Griffin
2. George
3. Cassidy
4. Janowicz
5. Byars - minus injured foot would have won Heisman
6. Hyde - Would have been Heisman worthy

If it is Tailbacks only and not Running backs in general. Then remove Hop and Vic from the list.

Let me just say this, I was lucky to see everyone who is on that list play. All of them provided great moments. However, though the stats don't show it, Keith Byars, prior to his broken foot, stands out as the most incredible back in a list of great backs.

Also, there are some excellent backs who don't make the list including Hopalong, Harley, Horvath, Janowicz, and you could add Clark, Ferguson, Snell and Warfield. Their records are affected by shorter seasons, fewer bowl games and in some cases, single platoon football.
