I don't apologize for preferring beer I don't have to fucking chew.

If you're going to drink a light lager at least make it a good one. Case in point:

Or better yet:

Thanks for the advice. I know the beers I drink don't have much flavor, that's why I drink them. I wish I liked guinness and such, I just don't. Every so often, I'll order a different, darker beer at the bar to just see if things have changed. They haven't yet. I will keep trying.

It doesn't have to be darker to be "better" or more flavorful.

Light Lager - Beer Advocate has a list of other brands of "light lagers" and you could try some pale ales too. I don't drink dark beer, I don't like it much. But that doesn't mean I'm stuck with Bud, Miller, Coors, etc.

If you really, truly, don't like beer with flavor than you probably just haven't had any decent beer yet. That's the way I used to feel about beer and it turned out it was basically because I had only ever had "American light lagers" along the lines of Bud, Coors, Miller, etc etc

That's what I've hoped. I tried some form of Pale Ale at one point, but found it repulsive. I don't mind Killians...on the way in:(, but the "Bitter" tasting buds I have must be highly sensitive or something.

How about some honey beer? Sweet tones in a light, clear beer.
MacTarnahan's Brewing Company - Mac's Amber, Oregon Honey Beer, Blackwatch Porter

Beer Styles: Ales and Lagers (Bayhawk Ales)
Their beach blonde is not bad either.

Both of these are very affordable over in our area, I don't see why they wouldn't be near you. We aren't talking $3 a sixer of course. :(

I don't like the bitterness of beer either. That's why I stay away from the darks, the porters, the stouts, etc. I can, and do like to, drink an occasional Murphy's Irish Stout but that's the darkest I go.

Oregon Honey Ale is nice, it has a smooth flavor, not overly hoppy like a lot of pale ales, just a nice taste. A whole lot better than the "laying on your back and pissing in your mouth" flavor of bud.

Thanks for the info guys! I'll definately get around to trying those. I guess I always did my experimentation at the bar, and most bars I go to have the american lagers and dark beers, with virtually nothing inbetween. Matter of fact, I may try one tonight. I'll keep you updated.

Just doing our part to help end the tyranny of the american light lager despots, Miller, Coors and A-B. DEATH TO THE DESPOTS!

Seriously, tho, just because you want to get drunk, doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy getting there. Cheap is one thing. Cheap AND nasty isn't necessary.

OMG, this is f*cking hilareous! Everyone is talking Buckyle into drinking honey beers with fruit in 'em and sh*t.

 :p

Seriously, though - try some of the American-style lagers produced by your local microbreweries. Not the Pal Ales, mind you (those are LOADED with hops, and are way too bitter for my taste) - see if you can find a lager-style (Pilsner, etc). I've found that the 'micro brew' lagers are head and shoulders above the mass produced beers in flavor, character and body.

I shake my head every time I see the Miller Lite commercial where they thump their chest on having won four of the last six gold medals for Best American Style Light Lager. Well, when you bribe the beer judging committee to create your own fucking category so you can finally win something, it's really nothing to brag about.

Yep. Also, being the best out of all the rest when all of it tastes like crap just means you are king crap of the crap pile. Again, not really something to brag about.

Here are some other suggestions on the light side, but still respectable beer styles with some actual flavor:
  • Munich Helles (Hacker-Pschorr Munchner Helles, Paulaner Premium Lager, Spaten Premium Lager)
  • Dortmunder Export (DAB Export, Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold, Gordon Biersch Golden Export)
  • German Pilsner (Bitburger, Warsteiner, Spaten Pils, Victory Prima Pils, Brooklyn Pilsner)
  • Bohemian Pilsener (Pilsner Urquell, Budweiser Budvar (Czechvar in the US), Gambrinus Pilsner)
  • Blonde Ale (Redhook Blonde, Widmer Blonde Ale, Fuller's Summer Ale, Pete's Wicked Summer Brew)
  • Kolsch (Goose Island Summertime, Harpoon Summer Beer, Capitol City Capitol Kolsch)
  • American Wheat (Bell's Oberon, Anchor Summer Beer, Pyramid Hefe-Weizen, Harpoon UFO Hefeweizen, Widmer Hefeweizen, Sierra Nevada Unfiltered Wheat Beer)
And try some of the Belgian beers too. They tend to be on the light side (but pack a good alcohol punch) and have some fruitiness and spicey flavors:
  • Witbier (Hoegaarden Wit, Celis White, Great Lakes Holy Moses, Blue Moon Belgian White)
  • Belgian Pale Ale (De Koninck, Ommegang Rare Vos)
  • Saison (Saison Dupont, New Belgium Saison)
  • Belgian Blond Ale (Leffe Blond, Affligem Blond)
  • Belgian Tripel (These are usually in the 8%-10% ABV range: Westmalle Tripel, Chimay Cinq Cents (White), New Belgium Trippel, Unibroue La Fin du Monde, Brooklyn Triple)
  • Belgian Golden Strong Ale (Also in the 8%-10% ABV range: Duvel, Delirium Tremens, Unibroue Eau Benite)
Cheers!
