Home Repairs/HoneyDo List/Advice & Tips/etc.

Q: Need recommendations for a good degreaser/detail polish to get grease & oil prints off a car. Had to have my car serviced over the weekend (water pump, timing belt) and since it was completely dead on the back of a tow truck, I've got greasy palm prints all over the trunk where it was pushed into the service bay, and palm and finger prints all over the hood and both front fender panels. Car is white, so the hand prints are pretty obvious.

Took it through the car wash last night after pickup from the mechanic and the power wash/soap/foam brush didn't do a thing. Spent another half hour at home scrubbing with my detail brush and Turtle Wax and that didn't do much of anything either. Obviously need some sort of chemical degreaser.

Mineral Spirits or VM&P Naphtha should be able to cut through the oily substances without affecting your coating. Try it in a test area just to make sure as well.
Also, Fingernail Polish (Acetone) may help with that as the solvency power is higher; however, it's typically not as oleophilic.

So I've got my small 32" mounted in the buckeye room. Trying to decide whether I want to buy a 40" and mount that to the wall, and put the 32" on the tv stand, so I'll have a 2 TV set up (one for Xbox One and the other for cable). Or buy 60-65" for family room and move 47" into buckeye room.

And yes, I need to hide the cords

It's pretty easy to run the cables through the wall, though if you got the right size, you could just buy a cable cover to run vertically and paint it red (like how the scarlet stripe used to stick up on the old riddell helmets)

How far are you from these TVs? That would be my concern with that 32", which is pretty short vertically. My 50" is great from about 10-12'. I have a 27" second monitor on the end table next to me. I can remove this when company comes over, but it's great for gaming or watching something else and not causing any media disharmony between me and the Mrs. :) Like if I'm really jonesing for football and want to watch a terrible ACC game on Thursday night while I edit some photos.

Totally random but did anyone else experience the NIU game being a bit blurry? It seems that the camera's are so far away that it's almost as if the red jerseys throw off the high def a bit.

That was the Hawaii game actually - I didn't notice a difference with the NIU game, but by the time it came on (since I had to work my last mid shift Saturday morning), I had been up for about 27 hours so everything was a big blurry mess by then

Yeah running cables through the wall is no problem, just need to get the mounts for the wall.

I'm only about 10-12 feet as well. But with the 32" right now, I moved an ikea chair to the middle of the room. The tv is too small really for anything, but we just dropped $1,800 for a new downspout outside. So the TV fund took a big hit
