Home Repairs/HoneyDo List/Advice & Tips/etc.

I now know why it is so damn expensive to hiring someone to re-do pool coping. Ugh. Probably one of the most tedious and exhausting projects so far.

It was not maintained well prior to me buying the house, and the grout/masonry cement between the coping tiles was almost non-existent in some areas. Total of about 14 hours of work so far, but still have that 8 foot section to finish up this coming weekend.

But it looks a hell of a lot better:

Nice job buxfan. That looks great. Jealous of the pool!

That's not good Crump. Do you know the source of the water leak?

No, but I'll do some crawling around in the attic as soon as I shrink a foot and lose a hundred pounds. Hopefully I can take care of it this weekend. I really need a whole new roof anyway, but now is not the time $$.

So I finished painting the walls in my Buckeye Room. Unfortunately I nicked the ceiling in a few spots with the roller, of course at the peak of the cathedral ceiling. I think the helmet stripe turned out great. (The gray is a little blotchy since it's still drying)

Anyone have weatherstripping solutions for sliding glass doors? The place we moved into this May has a really nice 3 panel door, but there's a good gap at the bottom corners that is not only a leak for heating/cooling, but also seems to be an entry point for bugs (even though we have a screened in patio). It seems the biggest gap is on the end that we typically use for going in and out. It's been forever since I last used weatherstripping on a patio door (haven't had one that has actually been used in years), so I'm kind of foggy on what kind of aftermarket stuff is recommended and a quick search didn't turn up much helpful stuff.

Q: Need recommendations for a good degreaser/detail polish to get grease & oil prints off a car. Had to have my car serviced over the weekend (water pump, timing belt) and since it was completely dead on the back of a tow truck, I've got greasy palm prints all over the trunk where it was pushed into the service bay, and palm and finger prints all over the hood and both front fender panels. Car is white, so the hand prints are pretty obvious.

Took it through the car wash last night after pickup from the mechanic and the power wash/soap/foam brush didn't do a thing. Spent another half hour at home scrubbing with my detail brush and Turtle Wax and that didn't do much of anything either. Obviously need some sort of chemical degreaser.
