Historical Logos (1920's,30's)

AK85

Newbie
looking for information about what logos and/or branding was used during the 1920's-1930's era. after doing some research on the subject, the only information i've come up with is that the athletic logo has been in use for ~20 years (1990's?). does that mean that the block O and square text logo are the only other two that have been used in the schools history?

The current logo (scarlet block O with arched "Ohio State" lettering) came out in the early 1980s IIRC...

Are you familiar with The Helmet Project? That may be helpful.

There's also LogoServer, which attempts to keep records of past team logos.

My favorite:

I don't remember that logo being around that long. I keep thinking it was first used around the same time tOSU signed with Nike. I remember having the first t-shirt I'd ever seen with the current logo you describe. So...late 80's/early 90's? Before that, most everything I remember was scripted in Olde English or straight up Woody style block O.

I'm getting a blocked image when I look at your post - maybe because I already posted a helmet from that site?

This is the helmet you're talking about, right?

That's it. The link worked for the first day or two, and then went away.

Florida will not be returning to this helmet style, a one game usage versus Penn State in the 1962 Gator Bowl.

Penn State had very publicly stated how disrespected they felt at 9-1 playing a 6-4 Gator Team, so to fire the team up against the hated Yankees they put the Battle Flag on the side of our then-normal white helmet.

Our Orange helmet with the script "Gators" was not adopted until 1979.

We beat Ped State 17-7.

They should do what Maryland did and just drape it across the entire helmet. No one would be offended by that at all!
