Woody, Coop, Tress Leaves

I remember in Woody's tenure, some players in November had helmets filled with leaves, while others had one or two. Those who rode the pine had none at all. It was always easy to spot the starters, and even easier to spot Archie.

I remember Schlicter lit it up vs. Northwestern and earned a record 14 leaves for a single game.

I wonder how many leaves Adrian Clarke earned in 2002.

Yeah, Doss, Nickey, and Gamble come to mind. I think there was a blurb during the 02 Michigan game on TV about how many Buckeyes can fill a helmet. The number 92 comes to mind, but that seems like a lot.

Regardless, a helmet full of buckeyes is a glorious sight to behold, thats for sure.

I thought it was 84 (could be wrong). I think Gamble set the record for most-ever leaves in a season, counting the bowl game, with 107 (it was over 100). Of course they all couldn't fit on the helmet...

I am struck by the management competence of Tressel versus Cooper. Cooper's system rewards offense almost exclusively. Perhaps that is why his teams scored so many points but also gave up so many and gave up so many penalty yards?

Tressel rewards a host of measures designed to win the total game and reward excellence in all its aspects. You can't manage what you can't measure. If you want to understand "Tresselball" in its measureables, it is right there to see in that comprehensive set of measures.

correct me if im wrong, but they can buy their helmets at the end of the season can't they?
I don't have the link to the article, but I recall reading that the players had the option of purchasing the helmets from two years prior. The current seasons' helmets become the practice squad helmets the following year, then are up for sale the year after that.
