Heisman Finalists vBet

Baylor would be 3-9 without RGII, not 9-3. They're [censored]ing Baylor. LSU would be, at worst, 10-2 without Mathieu. Frankly, while his punt returns versus Arkansas and Georgia were nice plays the Tigers eventually won both games in blowout fashion. Over 60 minutes, the stronger team imposed its will.

Meanwhile, Baylor had to win shoot outs all season because their defense sucks. RGIII had to carry his team for 60 minutes. Mathieu never had to do that.

So which player is truly elevating his team, and which is just one of many good players on an already very good team?

Wo Wo Wo now. Believe me sir. I am all about RGIII for elevating his team and being the best imo. I was just explaining why being on a #1 team may be important and I was just giving a reason why I think being on LSU is good for Mathieu

Baylor would be Western Kentucky without RGIII. Fuck Baylor WAS Western Kentucky without RGIII, and they will be again when he leaves. RGIII all the way.

Speaking about the 'best player on the best team' argument... Remember in 2007 when Skip Bayless was on ESPN saying that Todd Boeckman should win the Heisman because he is the best player on the #1 team?

I miss the 2007 season, South Florida #1 in the country, Boston College rolling, and then the upsets...

Thought Beanie, Jenkins, and Laurinitis were the best players on that team:P After all these years, I'm surprised that tool still has a job.

In the case of Honey Badger, I would argue that without him, they wouldn't be number 1 in the nation. So him being outstanding and on the number 1 team is a big deal.

Right, but would he be the honey badger on most defenses? Probably not, he'd probably be a rich man's Will Allen with return ability.

Honey Badger does all the work while these other animals just pick up the scraps.

USF never got to #1 (though they did receive first place votes)...they reached #2 then fell apart.

Mathieu has turned in key performances in a lot of big games for us.

  • he scored the 1st TD of the year for us, igniting the rout against top 5 Oregon
  • strip/recovery of a fumble of WVU 1st drive, and a ridiculous pick he returned to the 1 in that game.
  • Game tying punt return for TD, led the team in tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery vs Arkansas (a game we had to win just to get to SEC CG)
  • punt return TD providing much needed spark vs UGA, plus fumble recovery to set up go ahead score, plus that unreal 47 yd punt to set up the next score.
all these games eventually became blowouts, but they weren't blowouts when he made his plays.

I agree he won't win it, and RGIII deserves it.
But Mathieu is having an unbelievable career when it comes to making big plays exactly when his team needs it.
