Heat-Mavs 2011 NBA Finals

100% agree, it would be stupid to treat the half-court line differently...it just seems that the rulebook does

There was an NCAA Tournament game where a controversial backcourt play occurred this year. But that time the guy receiving an inbounds pass was in the frontcourt (as was the ball, but coming in from the sideline), and he stepped on the midcourt line, but not over it. It looked like a violation (in the same way that stepping out of bounds would be), but it wasn't. However, the college refs called it a backcourt violation on Syracuse.

They had the ball with the score tied and less than 1 minute to go, and ended up losing by 4 points to Marquette, so it was a very big blown call. At least for BN27.

Yea, that's an incredibly confusing rule. Why not just make the half court line the same as the out of bounds lines? Then everyone would understand the rules.

On a different note, I'm a little surprised that Chris Bosh hasn't been taking more [censored] for Dirk punking him at the end of game two. You know Dirk is going to take the last shot and Dirk blows by him and then scores on him with his messed up hand. Dirk also isn't really known for being quick. I hope the rest of the Mavs step up.

I questioned it before they came back from the break between the 1st and 2nd quarters, I wasn't trying to explain the loss. I'd like to see the rule clarified, because I still don't know whether or not it should have been a violation. Those that have been around for a while know that I do that type of thing regardless of which team got the short end of the call.

I also complained about them not using replay on the call in order to get it right, and since the rules probably prevented them from doing that, the rules should get updated to allow stuff like that to be looked at. The NBA is taking a beating about the refereeing this postseason (as usual), and any time they can get something right they should rewrite rules to let them do that.

I'm pulling for Dallas in this series, but I'm not a jilted Cavs fan. I've been a Bulls fan since before Jordan went to college. Some of us pick a team based on where we live and support it for decades, but I guess that's not for everybody.

easy tiger, I wasn't calling anyone out, other than the masses of actual Dallas fans who were using it as an excuse.

hitting the game winning shot in the next game usually silences critics from the game before.

This flopping is really bs. Stop being pussies and pretend to get hit in the face when you didn't get hit. Takes away from the game.

LeBron getting "hit" in the first quarter was the biggest crock of shit I have ever seen in a professional sporting event. Straight WWE.

Huge call not to call the "clear path" violation on Miller as Kidd controlled a tip to himself for a 2-on-0 fast break. Instead of 2 shots and the ball, it's just a loose ball foul with no free throws, Mavs don't convert, and the Heat hit a 3 at the other end to start a run. It's the missed calls that change momentum that are the killers. The Mavs would have been down 3 with the ball if the correct call is made there.
