Three things I know to be true in this life:
1) Aint no party like a West coast party
2) If you don't use it, you lose it
3) NOTHING sucked worse than the Cooper years. Nothing.

I don't think he turtles. He starts second guessing himself. Maybe that's what you mean, but it's not like he shut the O down in the 3rd quarter against Texas. If anything, I think he was far too aggressive. After those first two runs for 19 yards, they ran ten pass plays to only 3 run plays. The D didn't get gassed because Texas was leaning on them. They got gassed because the O had a 1:00 three and out, immediately followed by a 1:30 three and out. 5 incomplete passes with 1 run, and the run was on second down and wasn't fooling anyone.

And Earl's string of 9-3 seasons before Cooper. How the hell did he go 9-3 with the 1984 team that was loaded with not only future NFL talent but with future Pro Bowl talent.

I was on campus (or High Street lol) a lot in the mid/late 90s. The Game and the bowls usually sucked, obviously, but beating Notre Dame's ass twice was pretty awesome. We also beat Joepa's enabler ass several times as well.

I was being a little tongue in cheek but he does give the same Coop like "oh shit" vibe. You can almost feel the puckering through the tv.

He gets spun up, everyone around him gets wound tight and the weird shit starts cascading through the whole team. Kickers miss kicks, QB misses wide open guys, ST doesn't see an uncovered gunner etc etc.

I mean listen, still first world problems and all but he does not give off a a steely-eyed-gun-fighter vibe.

Much more of a bug eyed neurotic who needs his meds again but the cabinet is locked until after the game kind of vibe.

100% agree and I’ll just re-share my debrief/post-mortem on last season and going into this year.

2026 tOSU Offense Discussion - Post 235

If I’m being a bit harsh/fair to the dissecting the 2025 Buckeye offense - I think the season looks a lot different if they simply had a QB that could see and throw in the middle of the field.

I don’t know if it’s height, vision, design, training wheels, processing speed, coaching safe, or nerves, but Sayin had inexcusable misses - primarily to Inniss but that one to Klare on the Miami 2nd quarter drive will haunt me. Those open throws make the OL look slightly better.

I don’t think Sayin was quite good enough - which is fine, he was a freshman. But that late in the year, I was expecting more advancement. Again, being a bit harsh but you get high expectations at OSU. Those misses throughout the year and the last 2 games can’t happen.

They were dark, but I’m not sure that I would’ve fully understood tOSU without them. I arrived on campus in ‘91 from GA with a west coast stop. I think it took living through Cooper for me to get that it didn’t matter how many wins, bowls, or draft picks you had if you lost to tcun. I didn’t need the lesson repeatedly hammered into my skull, though. Thanks a lot, Coop.
