Speaking Tuesday on Josh Pate’s College Football Show, Day voiced support for the NCAA potentially adopting a mandatory two-year commitment for student-athletes before entering the transfer portal.

“I feel pretty strong about that. I do,” he said.

The Ohio State head coach acknowledged such a change would create “ripple effects in other areas,” meaning the NCAA and its various committees would need to weigh several factors before implementing a two-year requirement.

Just sayin': The NIL genie and transfer genie are both out of their bottles and you won't get them back in. Limiting transfers would ultimately reduce a player's total amount of NIL money a player could amass over his/her college career. Unfortunately, I can't see the NCAA ever adopting that. Sadly, if the NCAA adopts the 5-in-5 rule you are going to see some players transfer 5 times......

You can limit the players ability to earn a living right after you do the same to the coaches.

Show me one coach who has ever gone on one of their moralizing rants and said other coaches need to be restricted in movement and income.

Ryan Day Selected to UNH Hall of Fame Class of 2026

Ohio State coach Ryan Day will be enshrined in the UNH Athletics Hall of Fame this fall as a member of its 2026 class.

Day played quarterback for the University of New Hampshire from 1998-2001. A three-year starter for the Wildcats, Day left UNH as its all-time leader in pass completions (653), completion percentage (59.9%), total offense (8,492 yards) and touchdown passes (53). He was a team captain for the Wildcats as a senior.

A Manchester, New Hampshire native, Day stayed at UNH to start his coaching career, coaching UNH’s tight ends in 2002 before leaving to become a graduate assistant at Boston College in 2003.

Day, who previously returned to UNH in 2024 to serve as the university’s commencement speaker, will be officially inducted into the UNH Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 4, 2026 as part of UNH’s homecoming weekend. He’ll be inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside his head coach, Sean McDonnell.

The Christina and Ryan Day Fund for Pediatric and Adolescent Mental Wellness: Created in partnership with Nationwide Children's Hospital and The Kids Mental Health Foundation, this fund provides free "Day Time Break" curriculum kits to classrooms, teaching young students how to manage stress and boost mental health.
