HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

I hate to do this to him, but where is @BigWoof31 ? I need his reaction to Kirby being terrible against AL and still winning a couple of NCs recently.

My reaction to winning back to back national championships despite an overall losing record to Alabama in a timespan where they also didn't win any national championships?

Generally speaking, my reaction is below:

I love BuckeyeBackHome but it's an Apples and Cucumbers comparison.

We don't play Bama every year (historically).
They aren't traditional rivals
People have a much longer runway for losses to Nick Saban rather than cornball ass Jim Harbaugh
This doesn't matter AS MUCH but curiously, none of those losses were at home. They were in T-Town or Atlanta

Many UGA fans would be too proud to admit this (or too drunk perhaps) but I still feel like, despite recent success, we are "punching up" at Alabama. 2021 and 2022 is a point of pride, but they just have more history and a bigger trophy case than the Dawgs. To the outside fan, OSU/UM are on more even footing (historically).

Clemson 2019 Dobbins got hurt that’s why it was close and that’s why we would’ve maybe lost to LSU had we won (no way Dobbins would’ve been ready).

I agree there’s something off with Ryan. He needs to stop saying “we need to get it to the 4th quarter” for example.

My point is his teams are RIGHT THERE vs some of the best teams in the last 5 years. He just needs to get it done. That’s why I think if we can get through the first game as the likely #8 seed and if we play Oregon we can win that game. If we win that damned game then ALL BETS are off.

You ever stop to notice that you don't have to make all these "if my aunt just had a set of balls she'd be my uncle" lists with coaches who are winners?

Notice how all the "a guy fell down, stepped on his foot, dropped a key pass, refs fucked us" stuff didn't seem to happen enough to derail other coaches who have championship pedigrees?

It's like Shawshank with some of this fanbase. No guilty men in the prison.

Day's never really lost a game, he's just been unlucky for 6 years.

He’s been unlucky for a few and now he’s pressing which is making it worse.

With the talent we have, he needs to start saying, "we need to have the starters on the bench for the 4th quarter."

Random but is there any idea how much of OSU's NIL is fan supported vs. privately sourced?
I've been wondering about this, too. Does anyone have an answer? I suspect that the big donors will continue to contribute regardless of what happens, but if I'm a more modest private donor or a fan, my reaction is: I'm not wasting my money on this program as long as Day is at the helm shitting the bed. We just spent a small fortune to steal the best players from 'Bama and Ole Miss, get a new QB1, and secure the best frosh WR the school has ever seen, and you lost to this scUM team? Get fucked.

People want to talk about the loss of recruits and rostered players if we let Day go, but at some point that is going to happen anyway if the NIL lags because no one believes in wasting money on this head coach.

ok

Luck is the residue of design my man. Winners get lucky. Ryan Day's of the world find new "if but for that" bullshit everytime they lose.

Yea, you can honestly say similar things about Belichick or Saban, in regards to their "if but" situations. Saban could've won more than he did, so did Belichick (scary thoughts), difference is, those situations were littered in between copious amounts of success. Those would qualify as bad luck.

It's not bad luck when you've never climbed the mountain.

Isn't Kirby 1 and 6 against Bama? Lol.... Nobody is crying.

Ryan just needs to make a serious run to right the ship.
