HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

I will stand up for Day for this …we say we haven’t recruited well enough on the Lines and maybe Linebackers. Day does not support recruiting young men who may end up in some sort of trouble ie. Georgia. So we are not recruiting those players. For the most part you can be proud of our players. I know there are exceptions. I love our players.

Really? None? Not the tremendous talent he's bring in? Not going to PSU in an intimidating environment and winning? Not going into the most intimidating environment I've seen in years at Oregon and losing by 1 pt? Not a National Championship game appearance? Not being 10-and-fucking-2 and the wholel fucking world wants to fire him?

You guys are letting your emotions about losing to those cocksuckers color your judgement.

I will admit you may turn out to be right. But right now I see a bunch of fucking spoiled children holding their breath and stomping their feet. "I want him fired!! Fire him, Daddy!"
10-2 is the floor. not the ceiling.

I just think we all need to stop. Believe it not I agree with Steve Deace today who’s actually pretty reasonable (outside of the scandal).

He thanked buckeye fans for turning on the team mid game. I doubt he’s wrong too. He mentioned how the fans booed the team and how we were nervous once we missed the field goal and he’s fucking right.

Maybe we win that game if we stopped being fucking spoiled assholes and cheered the team. Brought them to life. Willed them to a win.

Sometimes we shouldn’t wait for a reason to cheer.

And I for one am done with this negative shit.

I think we have a top 3 team and I know we are better than that last game.
no one booed the team. they booed Day when he kept calling the same shitty plays that didn't work.

Kind of interesting how every season this guy has to fire all of his assistants because they all let him down. I wonder what the common denominator is there?
Kind of like when I finally told my ex that if all her coworkers were so awful as she told me every day, maybe she was the actual problem. Emphasis on ex for obvious reason, but Day is not Ohio State's girlfriend.

I've been pretty resistant to Tressel ever having any formal role at the university, but I have to admit that he would be perfect in the role of Day Wrangler.
I can get that. I've had so many interactions with him when he was here and he was not only a great coach and ambassador, but we won The Game. I interviewed him and asked how many days until we beat ttun? I was in the WHAC looking at the timer and knew the exact answer. He was just slightly off by a day, he wanted to pull the tape in part and do it over on principle, but I promised the video would be played later and it wouldn't matter. He was ok then. Then every next time he asked me the same question and I got it wrong.

But that's the difference right there right? Would Day do that? Hell no. Again, love the guy, but if you don't grow up in Ohio with this rivalry, you try to get it but don't actually get it or otherwise know how to win it. When JT resigned the entire campus was in a state of depression for about a month, I saw Gordon Gee look like he lost his best friend. I can't imagine a departure with Day would be the same, but it's similar in the fact that a great person can lose their job for any which reason. Losing to ttun this many times falls in that category.

Kelly and Day are essentially the same? Yes, Day is part of the Kelly coaching tree, obviously but I think there are some pretty stark differences between the kind of offense Day likes to run (see Ohio State 2019-2023) and the offenses Kelly traditionally prefers to run.

Between the Michigan game plan being absolutely opposite of what we've done every other game and what Chip has historically done on offense everywhere he's been, I don't believe the game plan for Michigan was Chip's doing. The adjustments typically made between the first and second half (which usually resulted in lots of scoring) for every other game this season was 100% gone on Saturday too. The last drive of the 1st half made me think some adjustments were made early...but when we came out in the second half and just ran it right at them, I was dumbfounded.

So I think either Day overrode Chip's gameplan before the game or he commandeered playcalling at some point on Saturday. The way we came out the first few drives, I'm pretty sure it was the former.

But still, why nothing changed at half-time, I have no idea. Yeah, it was windy. Yeah, Howard was knocked silly in the first half and that may have had an effect...but Chip made his career with an option offense that uses misdirection, perimeter running plays and gameplanning around an undersized OL. Running it right at the best interior DL in the country with a MacGuyvered offensive line is probably the least Chip Kelly thing possiboe. Outside of maybe suddenly running an Air Raid offense.

But once again, the assistant coaches and coordinators are taking all the heat when there's been one common denominator.
This.

Frankly, the Offense never seemed to be in sync for more than 2 quarters in any one game this year. In fact, the team never once played 4 full quarters of clean, hard football. I think we were on our way to doing that vs Oregon until Simmons got hurt. That derailed things.

The reason I say this is that for some reason, Day refused to give much meaningful playing time to Sayin even though it was clear back in September he was going to be the guy next year. I said at the game…and several around me….that Howard needed to sit. He didn’t look the same after the hit. Yet there was zero confidence in Brown and Sayin. Day has again mismanaged his QB room.

Unless he does a 180 and figures out how to get his team to play well and win the CFP, he needs to be gone from Columbus.

Offense felt that way last year too

Guys we all know how close we were in 2019 and 2022 specially. There is some luck involved in things.

For example, Fuller not having his obvious TD called back or Marvin’s hit staying a targeting call.
Luck played a part in those games, yes, but so did coaching malpractice.

And it's unacceptable to lose games due to coaching malpractice (whether in part like those games or fully like Oregon and scUM this year).

We have to win 4 games in a row against top 10 teams at this point.

You can bet at least 2 of those games are going to be tight games.

And you can bet that Day is going to blow it because he does it every single damn time in those situations. A 10 year old playing Madden manages the clock better than him.

2019 Clemson
2022 Georgia
2024 Oregon
2024 Michigan
The upcoming 2024 Playoff loss

How many more times do we need to see this shit? He cannot handle coaching in the biggest moments of the biggest games. This is who he is going on 6 years now, no amount of throws at the dart board is going to change that.

Our only hope of winning these games is to either blow them out (2019 scUM, 2020 Clemson, 2024 Indiana) or have the opponent James Franklin themselves. Thats it; thats our path under Day. And you aren't winning a 12 team Playoff that way. And this is why OSU needs to move on, in addition to the incapability to coach against scUM whatsoever.

Ohio State should not need luck to win big games. The stars should not need to align for Ohio State to win big games. The coach who makes $10 million per year should just do his damn job at a competent level and the rest will take care of itself.

I like how we've gone full retard and are now expecting losses simply because the seemingly never-ending temper tantrum has people pretending like Ohio State is a 3rd tier program all of a sudden.

If a game played by 18 to 22 year olds colors your outlook to the point where you have to be constantly negative and expecting the absolute worst at all times, you need to re-examine your life/lives.

It's clearly time to step back and not be a part of the forum for a while. Peace out everyone.
