HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Valid reasons for wanting to start over IMO. In hindsight yeah we needed to go for it there but the defense is pretty good and TCUN hadn’t done a ton all day. I’m ok with the punt there though in the moment. There was like 7 minutes left once we punted so there’s no reason why we couldn’t get a stop there. Never mind then giving up 35 yard run and then giving them another first down because of too many men on the field.
The time is the biggest enemy at that point. Not the score, not the opponent. Time. By going for it, even IF you fail, you preserve the time and give yourself another opportunity to tie (or win) the game.

Instead, well, we got what we got. 30 seconds and an L.

He just doesn't get it. I haven't (and won't) seen any postgame shit but I'm certain he hasn't even given this another thought even though it was blatantly obvious (to me, at least) that we should have went for it in that situation.

In hindsight, the decision to punt the ball is even worse than I thought at the moment. It's awful and if it weren't for old school, conventional thinking, it would be getting a ton more discussion right now. But the game ended on that punt with our All-Pro WR group watching from the sidelines.

This game today eerily reminded me of the Florida championship game of 2006, I believe. Something was amiss in that game too, especially after Ginn got hurt. Bunch of rumors swirled after that game about stuff that happened the week headed up to that game, but mods and other Buckeye social media defenders kept diverting the rumors and telling fans they were untrue.

Risk vs Reward. I don't think Ryan Day has a grasp for this concept.

Reminded me of the last 4 TCUN games. You could feel the team slowly giving in to the reality. You really could.

Which coach has proven that he can win big games at Ohio State? Urban Meyer ain't coming back, so who you got?
You, me or anyone else on earth knows what the odds of the replacement being better or worse are.

The decision is stand pat or take the risk of change. That’s it.

There is at least some chance of upside to a change. Standing pat is guaranteed bad outcome.

You don’t stand pat and drown for sure if there was a chance of swimming out.

I guarandamntee our RB’s play like they have a pair unlike what I witnessed today. This fall on first contact is weak. I’d take Eddie in a heartbeat.
Unfortunately, M had our RBs wrapped up at the LOS most of the time. When they weren’t we had near zero blocking downfield. Our WR and TE did not perform well in the blocking department.
