It’s especially perplexing coming from a former NFL assistant that has publicly said if he could change any rule in the NCAA, he’d narrow the hashes to NFL width. You say this like you're allowed to run away from the boundary or something.
Hogwash
(Mindblown)Next he’ll be telling us you can just physically push the other team back a yard to get a first down.
He’s the right guy going into 12 team playoffs starting next year. I think with his recruiting and QB development, it’s a near lock we are in playoffs very consistently.
Well keep the pitchforks sharp then brother and plenty of fuel for the torches. Have fun with that. How many logical fallacies can you jam into one rant man?
A) ain’t my bet to make so…
B) no way to say what bet I would make or wouldn’t make
C) I can only post online in the 10 minutes or so a week I give to this shit. What the hell is this magical unicorn rainbow world of what I’d do in the real world? No shit it’s easier online. That’s our only medium.
D) the point of being riled up is the same as those who are perfectly comfortable with Day. It’s an opinion I come to my online sports bar and post. People have a different one? Fanfuckungtastic. I don’t care.
I give the logic behind it. 90% of the retorts I get are emotional laden nonsense (I am not a real fan, must be a miserable person, always unhappy, who else you going to get,? Blah blah blah). People read a lot of context into the written word that just isnt there.
I don’t mind keeping at it as long as anyone wants to but I’m not getting behind some passive aggressive millennial who can’t win The Game and has a losing record in the CFP because his teams are as insecure as he is until I see him change the results….on the field….in the games that actually matter.
There was a point where the rocket screens to the inside worked and some teams execute it well, but we are not one of those teams. We're best when we can run the ball and stretch the field with intermediate passes over the middle and to the perimeter, and on slants and short crossing routes. The awful predictable WR screens that rarely worked have been shockingly absent so far this year. I guess they've loaded up on more Jet Sweeps and that RB Toss play to make up for it.
That, or push the runner. That’s legal now!!Next he’ll be telling us you can just physically push the other team back a yard to get a first down.
You willing to push all your chips in that you can replace him with a coach that has more success?
For real. You are the new AD and landing a high profile gig like this is a culmination of a long hard career.
You willing to bet your career on being able to replace his wins and losses and no scandals with someone who will do better?
Yes or no?
It’s easy to fire him on a message board. WAY different in real life.
No way in hell you make that bet Jax. Absolutely zero chance you do.
So what’s the point of everyone getting riled up about him not being the right guy?
AgreedIf he finishes the season with consecutive losses again there will be donors with pockets a lot deeper than mine who will be making their thoughts about Day known, privately. I said from day one that I don't think Ohio State should be anyone's first HC gig. It's a huge job.
The expectations are beat TTUN, win the B1G, and compete for national titles. Despite his lofty winning percentage he's not faring well by those measures. Given the facilities, funding, and recruiting he's got the more talented team on most days - in other words, he damn sure should win those games. But what happens when doesn't have a superior roster? Maybe it's equal. So far, he usually loses.
I saw he won coach of the week after beating ND. Did anyone watch that game and think Day's superior decision-making won that game? I'd argue some of his biggest decisions are why they needed McCord to play superman with 86 seconds left. Even that may not have been enough if Freeman had the sense to put 11 players on the field for the last 7 seconds.
Day dodged a bullet. He'd be getting crushed in Columbus this week for some of those calls if Chip gets tackled short on the last play.
