I think urban coaches for a handful of more years, maybe until he's close to but not quite 60. But ironically, maybe what happened to him this year pisses him off and he coaches until he's 65. He always talks though about not being a guy who coaches well into his 60s

My personal opinion right now is that Meyer hangs it up when his current contract ends after the 2022 season (he will be 58). I think he's starting to get fed up with all the bullshit. His total contract money is around $50M, so after taxes that's still $30M over then next five years or so. He could then just tell everyone to shove it, spend more time with his family, and maybe do some commentary work like he did before taking this job...especially if he wins another NC or two before the end of the contract.

I'm not criticizing your reasoning, which is sound, but I don't agree. I think Meyer is every bit as much in love with coaching football as Nick Saban, who is now 66 and looks ready to coach another 10 years.

We'll see.

Maybe so but Nick has a serious insulation put in place by the boosters and university that any coach at tOSU won't ever have. Every single question comes at coaches at tOSU where most wouldn't come near Saban. It's the price you pay for being an actual creditable university where Alabama is, well Bama.

TCU GAME NOTEBOOK: NICK BOSA SUFFERS INJURY, AUSTIN MACK BATTLES DROPS, DWAYNE HASKINS RUNS FOR A TOUCHDOWN AND RYAN DAY COMPLETES HEAD COACHING TENURE

DAY’S WATCH ENDS
Saturday’s game was the final game of Day’s tenure as Ohio State’s acting head coach, as it was also the final game of Urban Meyer’s three-game suspension. With his suspension now fully complete, Meyer will be back on the sidelines for next Saturday’s against Tulane.

Following his final game as acting head coach on Saturday, Day said he was honored to have the opportunity to lead the Buckeyes to their first three wins of the season. But he also said he was excited and relieved that he could return to fully focusing on his regular duties as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach with Meyer taking over the head reins once again.

“We're just so excited to get Coach back next week,” Day said. “Our goal was to get 3-0 so that when Coach got back, he had a team that was 3-0. That goal is accomplished, but we have a lot ahead of us.”

Day also expressed gratitude to his fellow coaches and his players for everything they did to help him handle his interim head coaching responsibilities.

“I got so much help from these players and from the coaching staff,” Day said. “(Especially) Kevin Wilson and (associate head coach and defensive coordinator) Greg Schiano. What Greg Schiano has done for me in the last month is something I'll never forget. He is the classiest person I've ever been around in the coaching profession. The way he's handled himself, helping me along the way, counseling me on day-to-day stuff.”

Ohio State’s players are certainly happy to have Meyer back in the fold now, too. But the Buckeyes had nothing but praise for how Day performed over the past three weeks, particularly Haskins when asked how he would grade Day’s performance.

“Is there an A++ in the grade book?” Haskins said. “I thought he did really good.”

Just sayin': He passed the head coaching test with "flying colors". Day will be a head coach at some other school next season.

Started a Heisman campaign for our stud QB, led an incredibly efficient offense, playcalling looked great, let his seasoned assistants do their jobs, didn't look in over his head for one minute, didn't flinch at the media shit storm from the Smith saga, and all around kept the ship righted. Thank you Coach Day

Seriously impressed with how he handled the whole Smithgate situation. He did a great job getting this team prepared for the season and the games so far. Very good in front of the camera and represents the University well. Gonna miss him next year.

I wish they could just throw enough money at some of these guys to force them to take a pay cut to go be a HC someplace else. I suppose the best they can do is pay them enough to limit their options to the top half of FBS teams or NFL jobs. This one is going to hurt, but hopefully Urban spent the past 3 weeks scouting young hungry OC candidates.

What you guys said. He did as well as anyone could have expected and you can tell he just has it. Aside from loving the O play calling the thing I enjoyed most about Day was how he handled the media. He was an absolute pro and did not come across arrogant or condescending...TBH it was a little refreshing although the media is usually just as obnoxious when they’re doing their job.

Urban is still the man in charge and I’m glad he’s weathered the Smith saga BS and we can get on with it.

There's always young up coming coaches to pick from. Its just finding the ones that can fit in well. I know we all will enjoy Coach Day for the rest of this year
