Yes... it is about 15 miles north of Lima and 25 miles west of Findlay.

We made the playoffs for the first time my eighth grade year (89-90).... After those years we have teetered between mediocre and festering turd.:sick1:
Did you play in the game versus Grove in '92? I remember Allen East was pretty good that year and that Grove win sent us to the playoffs for the first time ever. I also remember one of the Allen East players got hammered on a kick return and had to be taken to the hospital...

My alma mater is Bishop Hartley here in Columbus. I graduated in '82 and we went to the state in '83 but lost. That team featured future scUM DB David Key. After the traitor graduated, we won it all in '85. I don't think we've done anything since then.

I didn't play in High School, but I was at that game, and Nathan Treglia got ear holed on that kick return. He fumbled the ball, and you guys ended getting the game winning score on the next posession. He did go to the hospital, but ended up not even having a concussion. The story that I heard about that kick off, other than our guy having wiffed on his block, bug time. Was that there was normally a sophomore on your coverage team, that one of the seniors on your team grabbed and pulled back to the sideline, so then the senior ran out on the field, and was the one that made the hit.

Truth is, we were only 7-3 that year, and the game, being at Grove, should not have been that close. We got our asses handed to us a couple of weeks before that by Spencerville, and were a mediocre team, at best.

Ferry, Bellaire, The Ville...

Ok maybe I shoulda phrased that a bit different. I didnt mean it isnt known for football in general, just meant that in regards to Ohio football, it isnt one of the better known areas, apart from Steuby. Sure, Bellaire and Ferry are always snoopin around the playoffs, but that it usually because of their cupcake-scheduled regular season

I didnt mean it as a bad thing either way. Nice to be proud of the local teams here when they do have those years like Steuby had last year. Bellaire and Ferry have had some excellent teams. Then you have Shadyside, Toronto, Monroe Central, few others who decide to really show up certain years.

Now the WV area of the Valley is awesome in comparison. Weir, Wheeling Park, Wheeling Central, Brooke.

In fact the more I think about what I said, it did sound really stupid

I am not from the area, but ferry and Bellaire snoopin around the play offs is an under-statement.

They are there every year and Bellaire is the 6th winningest team in the state of Ohio. Coach Magestro coached the North-South game. The valley is very respected in the state of Ohio.

I was just making a funny about them snooping around the playoffs. Basically what I was tryin to say is that you rarely see any D1 college kids come from this area. It's smaller time football in relation to how prolific Ohio is in the grand scheme of things.

My HS football team was not very good, but if Buckeye fans remember Jerry Francis, Elijah Brewster and Laurence Funderburke then you know how Columbus Wehrle dominated HS basketball in Ohio for about an eight year run.

Even though we were class A and Div 3-4 we would beat up on the big schools too.
