Indeed, this is a great season for new games. I don't follow the PS2 scene too much, but San Andreas is obviously huge. Xbox gamers will get Halo2, a new Splinter Cell, and a new KOTOR. Combined, all four of these are my favorite game franchises, meaning I will be one broke mofo this winter!

I've been waiting for Halo2 ever since all my friends stopped playing Halo with me because I beat them like rented mules. I need a new challenge!

When are the new KOTOR and Splinter Cell due?

When I was at Best Buy the other day, the signs they had for reservations showed both of them coming out in early to mid-December. I don't remember specific dates. I was kinda surprised that another Splinter Cell was coming out so quickly on the heels of Pandora Tomorrow. They have to get their piece of the Christmas cash I guess.

I got mine!

I've started on Legendary... And I can't figure out how to destroy the freakin' Covenant boarding craft.

I should go to bed... since I have a job and all... but screw it, I'm playing some more!

Yeah I finished the story mode. I wasn't even on planning on playing that part for a while. I wanted to just do multiplayer for a week or so, but my stupid XBox got itself banned. I don't really want to give any of the storyline away, but I liked the beginning alot and the cutscenes were spectacular this time. Some parts were a bit too similar to the first one though. Once you are done let me know what you think.

It's Gonna be awhile 'til I get to the story mode. I don't have an Xbox, so when I play it will only be multiplayer until I can get it for PC. I'm still hoping Bungie produces it for PC :smash:. I don't see why they wouldn't though, It can't be hard at all. An Xbox is just a computer dedicated to gaming so the program wouldn't need changed too much. Thanks for not giving away the storyline. I wouldn't want anyone to do that.

And I jsut finished story mode......... actually liked the story, better than the first I thought.

I just did as well. That was surprisingly quick. Wasn't racing through or anything, in fact, I'm still cleaning up the last scraps towards 100% in San Andreas, so I was part timing Halo 2 as a change of pace.

Agreed on the story, enjoyed it while it lasted, seems the main focus is definitely on multiplayer this time.

Given the amount of development time that went into 2, I'm hoping Bungie is being sneaky and is already polishing up Halo 3 as a Christmas'05 XBox2 launch title. I wouldn't be surprised if they sliced a bigger plot in half (not unlike Back to the Future 2/3, Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions) and split development up between the two platforms. But maybe that's wishful thinking.

Next up; Pirates!

I watched the behind the scenes part on the extra DVD that came with the commemorative edition and they said they had over 2 hours of cinematics. Didn't seem like that much to me.

Yeah, no way there were 2 hours of it. So hopefully that's suggestive that maybe Halo 3 might be a launch title.

I did come away from this feeling a little less fulfilled than I did in the first one. Not a knock on the game, just don't really feel like there was the normal partial closure at the end. In fact, I was totally shocked when the credits ran, as I didn't even slightly expect that to be the end. Just seemed like any of the rest of the missions. Hard to describe since I don't want to give anything about the game away.

I agree totally. The whole game felt like you were being led somewhere, and in the end, you never seem to get there. The whole campaign on this game left something to be desired compared to Halo 1.
