All I wrote was that it's annoying that Bama and Clemson seem to keep their best assistants, whereas we need new ones every 2 years. You seemed to disagree with my point in your original post.

TBH I'm not quite sure what we're arguing about anymore, or even whether you're agreeing or disagreeing with me, so let's move on.

I'm elated that he's still our coach (at least for the moment), but you can't help but feel for Schiano - man gets his name run through the mud because idiot-in-chief Clay Travis and the Tennessee fanbase want someone who they'll never get (Gruden).

Moreover, given the current climate, I'm sure many other universities and coaching searches will rule him out to avoid a media circus going forward.

Outside of Nick Saban and the RB coach, none of Bama’s coaches have been on staff longer than two seasons.

I wonder if Schiano has any recourse for a law suit? Probably would be tough seeing as he was never officially hired yet, but this just seems asinine to me. Essentially frivolous accusations against him are costing him money and a job now. I mean is UT the school officially going to make this their position on why they backed out or they just going to use some side-stepping to legally clear themselves of any negligence?

Go back and read what I originally said - I was specifically referring to Kirby Smart.

I don't give a crap who Alabama has as an OC or how long they've been there. Alabama and offense are not things that go together.

My point is that Alabama managed to keep an elite DC (Smart) for nearly a decade, Clemson has kept Venables since 2012, and VT has kept Foster since who knows how long. All elite defensive coordinators, all of whom have been considered for major head coaching positions, but all of whom decided to stay put (until recently for Smart and possibly Venables).

Wish we could get one of those, now that Fickell is gone.
