My first thought was, "Wow, great for us"

But I and others have concerns about Ginn Sr's influence on playing time of Glenville players. Smith comes to mind predominately.

But then I thought again, F*#ck Carr and scUM!

Are you saying some people think Glenville players get preferential treatment because they're from Glenville?

that must be why Smith was not given any sort of chance in 2004, until Zwick was incapable of throwing a football. Zwick performed very poorly in early 2004, and Smith never even saw the field for a series after the first few games.

I'm surprised it's such big news

I'm surprised you think it's such big news. I think it's a smart decision on our part. We're not going to get any other players from Glenville while TGinn is around so why waste the time and money.

Every Glenville kid "has no favorite" until January when the Buckeyes magically come out on top. TGinn does a good job of getting publicity for all his kids by keeping his seniors uncommitted until late in the process, but it's not like we don't know that OSU is really the extremely large favorite no matter what the kids tell the recruiting services.

Yep its always smart to give up the ghost on one of the hotbeds of prep talent in the State of Ohio. From all I hear its something near an official stance in the AA coaching ranks (at least according to "Stadium & Main"). May it always be so, though frankly I think that explanation is pure unadulterated BS.

Mind you though - if I were in your spot, without a reasonable response perhaps I'd come up with something like the above.

Fact is plenty of other programs go after the Glenville talent pool. Ohio State does not have "first dibs" and Carr has screwed himself royally by finding some means or other to place himself on the shit list of a High School coach with the clout that Ginn Sr. brings, year after year. (And for one moment take from your mind the thought that his son plays for tOSU, that has little to do with where every current Glenville kid wants to go and visit).

"Screwing himself royally?" Now that's hyperbole.

Anyway, according to Josh Turel, "Two Glenville players have already visited Michigan this year." Some blacklist. This reporter is just (successfully) drumming up message board controversy.

No comments on Carr's success recruiting at Warren Harding...Thom McDaniels is a JT supporter in the same way Ginn Sr. is, but that didn't stop Burgess or Manningham from going to the dark side.

How can we create this same animosity between these two schools?
