Oddly- I've been waiting for someone to take issue with that statement... but no one really has... yet.
Well, I'm not sure I am taking issue with it but would like to look at that idea... Ill give the linebacking core as being the best since ive been watching buckeye football.. i cant really imagine one much better.. The safeties should be phenomenal .. doesnt really matter which onesyou put back there we are loaded.. at corner we have one sure thing in yobouty.. and one vacancy..
in 97 we had gary berry, antoine winfield, ahmed plummer, and damon moore all in the same secondary.. i seriously doubt we can top that for a secodary.
that year we also had katzenmoyer, na'il diggs and jerry rudzinsky at linebackers.. the line however was lacking a bit..
the D ya went back to was 96 when we had antoine, shawn springs, ahmed plummer, ty howard, and damon moore all in the secondary..
matt finkes, vrabel, and luke fickell all on that line...
and a freshman katzenmoyer, and greg bellesari anchoring the linebackers.. yea.. if we get to that level im sure everyone will be happy..
how do these guys stack up against our current line-up?
id say our current dbs will have quite a hard time living up to that..
im sure youboty will hold his own but that other corner spot is still a question, personally id love to see jamario step up or whitner show why he was the number one corner out of highschool.. but springs and antoine and plummer is quite a trio to live up to..
our linebackers with hawk and bobby and schlegal and d'andrea should be an improvement.. and the line.. well, while fickell and finkes and vrabel may not ALL be national names they were still outstanding college players..
kudla and pitcock deffinately have the ability to be monsters but both still have to live up to potential.. green is a strong solid DT.. patterson could be a beast at any of the line spots if his motor is good enough.. and any of the young studs could make this defense look quite favorable to even 96 if even one has a breakout year... i guess we'll just see

Sandgk, I'd have to agree with the Rivals sites. Every single one I have visited has had a pretty hostile environment, at least the public boards. I think another reason for their not-so-hospitable nature is the sheer number of posters from other teams. Not much good can come from a place where fans from 20 different schools come together to talk about who has the best team.

I agree our defense will be very good but we also dont have Dantonio as DC anymore. Snyder did good job towards the end of the year but i dont think he was aggressive enough at the beginning. If he calls the game like he did agains Michigan and Ok St. then I think we come away with a win

I can agree somewhat but I also don't think he had the horses in the beginning of the year...lack of discipline on the d-line, new MLB, questions at CB, injuries, and Snyder finding his identity. It wasn't so much about his calls, but more what he COULD call. Watch film of the D-line in the first half of the season and compare it to the last half...the discipline difference is amazing. Experience in the trenches will usually trump talent.siebs7 said:

Super 8 Motel - Columbus/University
Just made a reservation at the Super 8 on Olentangy River Rd. for the Texas game. Looking at a web-based map, it looks like it's about 2 miles north of The Shoe. Is it an OK walk to the stadium, or would it be better to catch a cab?

It is a long walk but I don't think it would be too bad. A lot easier to take a cab though. For a small fee, I'll come pick you up and take you to the game.
