Lubbock: 2-2 (5-2 vs. Texas Tech)
Stillwater: 3-0 (Mack has NEVER lost to Okie State)
Manhattan: 1-1 (2-2 vs. K-State)
Iowa City: 2-0 (Mack has NEVER lost to Iowa State)
Lawrence: 2-0 (Mack has NEVER lost to Kansas)
College Station: 2-1 (6-1 vs. A&M)

Default-

I kind of just have to laugh at the teams you play on the road. Until you play Iowa, Michigan,Wisconsin, and Purdue on the road year in and year out I don't really wanna hear the it won't matter who's home/away talk. The record of us away against those teams is 3-4 but their records against us at the shoe is 1-5 in the past 3 years. Traditionally its kind of tougher playing hard teams on the road. Good luck.

Right now OSU has questions at 4 spots. Corner, End, Running back, and kicker. However our starting end this year played just as much as a starter. Also so did our running back. So if you really wanna be technical we have 2 true questions in Kicker, and Corner. Not to mention our kicker kicked lights out over spring ball. Corner IMO is the only position we don't have a kid who's made a statement and taken the spot.

Texas is a good team, but I don't see them coming into the shoe and moving the ball at will because they have a good QB. It will take alot more weapons you're willing to fire at us to off set the weapons we have on defense.

I'm a little to lazy to look it up, but I gotta believe that this just may be the biggest thread in BP history (now that it has passed Gwaltney's) and it is only May. Unbelievable!!! The anticipation of this game may be greater than the ND series in '95 and '96.

Actually, the "Al Gore invented" thread has over twice as many posts, they are all short posts so we could have an argument about which one is actually bigger. Wouldn't that be productive?

I'd argue that this one far more content rich. But some of the Al Gore invented schticks are good for a chuckle.

Question for everyone:

Do you think the draw of this game is an argument against a playoff? I mean how many other sports can boast this much anticipation for a regular season game, particularly so early in the season. If there were an 8-team playoff, where conference champions automatically go, this game would practically be an exhibition game, or at least just for seeding. But under the current system, this game is like a playoff game in September. I think it makes the whole season more exciting.

A few stats to add to the discussion:

Texas is 0-5 against OU since 2000 and 34-1 against the rest of the Big 12 in the regular season.

In the past four years, Texas has only lost one game on another team's home field. That was a high-scoring shootout at Texas Tech in 2002. During this same time, Texas has also only lost one home game. Again, the games vs. OU on the neutral field in Dallas are responsible for most of the damage to Texas lately. In fact, Texas likely would have gotten into the BCS National Championship Game in '01, '03, and '04 if they had just beaten OU. Against the rest of its schedule, Texas has been nearly perfect for four straight years.

Ohio State lost two home games just last year, did they not? In my mind, Ohio State still has a lot to prove, namely that it can win more consistently. I think Texas is the more confident, polished team heading into the season. But I am definitely not betting the farm on a win in the Shoe.

This year, last year. Apples, oranges.

Last year, the Bucks were looking for their identity.

This year, they know who and what they are.

No. Ohio State lost one home game. To Wisconsin. The other losses were at Northwestern, at Purdue and at Iowa. The previous home loss for Ohio State was in 2001 to Illinois.

The fact that Texas can't beat a fast, solid defensive team like Oklahoma makes me feel very, very confident in our chances. As for our home win-loss record, we lost one game at home over the last three seasons (Wisconsin, last year). Oh yeah, we've never lost a night home game...ever. If you feel that Ohio State still has a lot to prove, maybe you'd want to talk to some fans of Michigan and Oklahoma State. By the way, the Oklahoma State staff said that our defense was the best they faced all season last year, including Oklahoma's and Texas'. And no way is Texas more confident than Ohio State...Ohio State finished as strong as any team in the country last year, with the possible exception of USC. It's a really good thing you're not betting the farm against OSU...

Big deal... when you take the best team you face every year and throw out your record, of course your home AND away records should be better. Playing aTm, texas Tech, and Oklahoma State at home is not like playing michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Purdue.

Texas has more to prove, because they've won one big game in the last 5 years, and it was on the last second field goal against a very suspect michigan team.

Since you like selective stats, why don't you check OSU's record against nonconference teams at home over the last 20 years... only one loss.

In response to your question, I agree with you on the playoff system. IMHO, the current setup in college football (D-1A) is what makes it so great. I don't mind having 2 undefeated teams after the bowl season and having a debate about which team is better, it makes for more interesting discussions. Also, since there are 700 bowl games, 350 D-1 teams can go out on a winning record- and we should all remember that these are college kids, most of who will never play another down of football after they leave college. College football is the greatest fan sport in the world because of the bowl system, and any switch to a playoff couldn't make it any better.

We fans don't really count for shit in this arguement. I would lay mucho denero that if you polled the players from Auburn and SC (or from any team that might end up in that situation) they would want to play. Maybe not a full blown playoff, but a "plus one" I would like to see, and I think the players would like it determined on the feild. JMHO...
