I don't doubt that they're that much better, but do y'all honestly feel adequately prepared for the University of Texas??? Neither game prepared either team for what is going to take place next weekend. I cannot wait!!!
I am extremely confident that Tressel is better at preparing teams for big games than Mack Brown is.

Comparing Miami-oh to La-Laff is a joke, Miami is the class of the MAC this year, and MAC teams arent push-overs anymore, they show up to play and they can play with any team in the country.

Tressel is a big-game coach, Brown is anything but a big-game coach, we have a huge advantage right there.

Zwick played well yesterday, but I like a QB with fire and a lot of confidence. I think Smith brings those to the table where in my opinion Zwick is very laid back and keeps all of his emotions off the field.

i couldn't disagree more. did you not see who was the first person to congratulate gonzo and holmes for their great blocks on ginns pass reception in the 1st quarter where he almost took it to the house? the first person to congratulate schnitker afer his 1 yrd td run? i also recall him smacking a lot of helmets in the huddle as well. at the line he looked like he was making the right calls and appeared to be in full control.

keep in mind that people are not compairing zwick with smith when they say zwick had an excellent game. the reality of the situation is that he did in fact have a heck of a game. people are both happy and excited for him. there was so much talk about zwick and such lofty expectations. after a very rough year for him, to finally see him come out and prove those expectations and all that hype to be accurate... i feel so happy for zwick right now. no matter what happens with the qb spot, zwick finally has a game for him to hang his hat on.

the person who said smith is better inside the redzone clearly forgot some rather critical drives against scum last year. and to be honest, i would have to entertain the arguement that miami (oh) has a better d than scum after watching them play yesterday.

that aside, damn you zwick!! *shakes fist* i knew this was going to happen!!! zwick comes out last year and wins the job. excellent! we have a qb. the offense struggles and zwick gets hurt. smith comes in and clearly wins the starting job with a god like performance against scum. excellent! smith is annointed the savior of all things buckeye while zwick is dubbed an example as to the importance of birth control. smith gets suspended for 2 games. yet everyone dubs the qb spot as "smith's to loose". zwick starting at qb is nothing more than him keeping the spot warm for smith's return. what does zwick do in his 2 games? he goes out and earns 2 mvp awards!!

so who plays against texas? *cries* i don't know damn it!! no matter who starts im going to be frustrated that the other guy didn't get the opportunity. and if both play ill be equally frustrtated that neither guy got the chance to fully showcase their skills through the entire game as both clearly deserve. no matter what happens im going to be frustrated for one of these kids. both clearly deserve the shot. both clearly have the physical ability and (judging from both mans most recent performances) the control and support of the team to win not only the big 10 but make a run at a nc as well. all i want is a flippin clear cut starting qb!! no matter who wins out im going to feel guilty that one of these guys is sitting the bench.

damn you jz and ts!! is it to much to ask for one of you to suck??? lol! i dub this the best most frustrating situation ever!! :P

Again, who is to say until the game is played. However, if I had to say if the team was prepared, I would base that on Jim Tressel's track record of big-game preparation and say yes. No matter what kind of lip service he gave to the media, tOSU has been preparing for UT all summer. I would expect the same thing from the Longhorn staff.

did you really just try to sell me on the fact that Miami of Ohio can play with anyone in the country??? because they sure did prove that yesterday. Teams like Marshall and Boise State (non major conferences), they are legit teams. The only player any one can name from Miami of Ohio is Big Ben, and he doesn't even go there any more. Until people outisde of your home state give them recognition, they're still not competition. and the MAC is not going to be a BCS crashing conference. Don't give them more credit than they deserve

The MAC probably has done better in bowl games than the big 12 has lately, im selling the facts, maybe you should look them up sometime, you'll see that the MAC has played top teams tough. Randy Moss, isnt he from a MAC school? Byron Leftwhich, Chad Pennington, theres alot of players from MAC schools that are studs.

UTcain,
Just a little facto, last year Miami(ohio) put on a pretty good show up in the big house at Michigan. Now players have left and what not, but OSU didn't show their full hand, and I'm sure UT hasn't shown their full hand either. It will be a great game to behold, both teams have loads of talent. I think it comes down to home field advantage. Just ask any wolverine.

Nande, Nance, Robinson, and Hunter will all play on Sundays.

Anyway, back to the game at hand...

No. 6 OSU routs Miami

<!--ARTICLE BODY TEXT--> COLUMBUS - For those keeping official record, No. 6 Ohio State's season began Saturday with a 34-14 victory over Miami University. For everyone else, the grand opening is seven days away.
Ohio State players and coaches discarded the "one game at a time" line of thinking Saturday and celebrated what's coming next. Once Ohio State had command of the game, Buckeyes players, coaches and probably most of the 104,695 fans at Ohio Stadium couldn't help but think ahead to next Saturday when No. 2 Texas arrives for a high-stakes nonconference showdown.
By the end of the third quarter, the outcome of Saturday's game faded into an afterthought. Ohio State (1-0) was never in danger of being upset by the RedHawks; in fact, the Buckeyes held Miami scoreless for all but the final two-and-a-half minutes of the game. By then, Ohio State coach Jim Tresselwas thinking about how his team will contend with Texas' versatile quarterback, Vince Young.
"Probably in the middle of the fourth quarter today," Tressel said of when his mind started to wander. "I'm not going to lie. You start thinking about, you know, when it's time to do that, and there's no doubt about it."
Until defensive back Donte Whitner returned an interception for a touchdown late in the first half to give OSU a 20-0 lead, Ohio State had to focus on Miami (0-1) as much as possible.
Tressel cautions against peeking ahead to more than just the next game on the schedule. But he tossed aside that philosophy Saturday.
"We're anxious to be a part of a matchup like that," Tressel said. "Two great universities. Two of the greatest research institutions in the world. Two states that love the game of football and all that. Shoot, we can't wait, and I'm sure they're the same."
Whereas most OSU players are looking forward to the Texas game because of its stature and national-ranking implications, it is more personal to senior free safety Nate Salley.
"I have been looking forward to this since my freshman year, because Texas had the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation and we were second," Salley said. "So this will decide which one was better. This is probably the third-biggest game since I have been here, besides Michigan and the national championship."
Ohio State quarterback Justin Zwick threw for 155 yards, including a touchdown pass and an interception Saturday. Whether that performance was good enough for Zwick keep the starting quarterback job next week when last season's No. 1 quarterback, Troy Smith, returns from a suspension, Tressel wouldn't say.
"You want to be a starter," Zwick said. "That's something that you work for. When you come here, you want to be that guy."
Zwick was that guy for the first half of last season until an injury forced him out of the lineup and Smith led a turnaround of what had been a disappointing season. Saturday's victory, however, left Zwick feeling confident about his chances to remain as the starter against Texas.
"I'm not going to say I'd be really surprised," Zwick said of the possibility of losing the starting job to Smith. "That's tough. I played well today, I feel. We'll see what happens, I'm not going to worry about it."

CFN had Miami #49 preseason and La-Lafayette #112. And considering the fact that there's only 119 I-A teams, it's pretty likely that at least some I-AA teams are also better than La-Lafayette. Don't kid yourself--there's no way that UT would have beaten Miami by 57, notwithstanding Mack's lack of class and evident willingness to do anything to appeal to the pollsters.

I am tired of the y'all trying to diss the Big 12's bowl record. I read on this site that "the big 12's bowl record in the past 5 years speaks for itself." Do your research. IN the past 5 years the big 10's bowl record: 14-19 for a .424 win %. the big 12: 18-20 for a .474 win%. the big 10: 1 appearance in the past 5 championship games. the big 12: 4 appearances in the past 5 years. both with one national championship. I SINCERELY doubt the MAC has a better bowl record than the big 12 considering the big ten doesn't. Ohio state 3-2 in the past 5 years. UT: 3-2 in the past 5 years.

Ohio State is 3 out of 4 against their biggest rival, i guess all the horrible loses to oklahoma stick out in my mind.

And by the way, the MAC produces more NFL quarterbacks than every conference except the PAC-10.

The Big 10 is better than the Little 12, get over it.
