all bullshit, outrageous claims and predictions, 192 pages and 2874 posts aside, one thing can be certain, this will be a game to remember.
You guys have been pretty respectful and I appreciate that. It's nothing like other boards litterred with the Delusional Buckeye and Longhorn fan. It's hard to believe the game is so close since we've been anticipating it so long. I'm really tired of these practice reports but I still often need the practice report fix!!

I'm not going to continue harping on Special Teams, we at least got some positive feedback in practice reports today. I suggest you guys do the same and "Keep It Positive" much like Herman Edwards.

By the way we got rid of our special teams coordinator for 2004 who was easily the worst coach on staff last year. He failed upward and is now the OC at Notre Dame. I hope none of you are ND fans, because he is not very good.
That's called the St. Peter Principle :)
Weiss will straighten him out -- or junk him in a year.

So I did more digging on the UNT game as an example, just to make sure, since I was drunk at the game (very drunk). Most of his 15-20 yard runs were where DMangum kicked it in the endzone (outkicked the covering squad) and various UNT guys took it out. They took it out of the endzone all but 2 times, where DM was able to get it past the endzone. Their average starting drive spot was between the 5 and the 20. When they got it between +5 and -5 yards or so. That seems like pretty good special teams if you ask me. One time late in the game he broke it for a longer run from the -5 to the 25 or so i think, but that was back-ups in trash time.

Granted, if we kicked it to the 3 and he ran it to the 18, it sucks we couldn't pin him deeper, but its still a long ways to go and pretty good ST IMHO.

Its where if we kick it to the 20 and he gets it to the 35 or 40 where we have a problem.

The only time we gave up field position consitently like that or so was the Michigan game. Thats why I find it hard to believe "UNC" watched 6 of Texas's games last year.

Our punter RM placed punts very well, all season he impressed me last year with that aspect.

Anyway, Mack is definately stressing ST this fall camp. So I don't know where the comment that he doesn't care about ST came from.

:scum4: :)

Uh Greg Davis.
Honestly though Michael Haywood's arrival on the 40 acres corresponded with Cedric Benson's improved play over his last 2 years. Calling him the worst coach on the staff is false. If anything Bruce Chambers holds that distinction (other than the guy wearing the headphones up in the coach's booth).
