Just got a call from the guy I bought tickets off of.....section 28C :groove:

I have now crossed the line where I will be completely unproductive at work or anywhere else until I get a real Buckeye fix. Hopefully Miami(OH) can hold me over for a week.

Sounds like exaggerations both ways actually. Backers are gonna be better this year? Sure. MLB (Harris) and whoever starts at SLB might be better, and I'm sure Killebrew has been solid in practice so far, but as a unit there's no way.
Yeah, that comment took away credibility from the whole report. You don't lose a Butkus winner and get better at LB.

He was talking about the 2-deep. Our backups were non-existent last year. We are in much better shape in 5 of the 6 spots on the 2-deep, and that is what he was saying.
That's what it sounded like to me too...although even an improved 2 deep would have a hard time making up for the loss, but it certainly helps

If you look at the full two deep, this years LBs will be better overall than last year. Harris, Bobino and Killabrew will knock you out.
To me, "better overall" means the total production of the group on the field. Sometimes that the second unit, but obviously most of the time it's not. Hard for an improved second unit to more than offset the dropoff from the Butkus winner to his replacement.

Actually our starting SLB was so bad last year that the loss of DJ is almost balanced out among this years starters (who ever they are), but it is the backups that put this unit over the top versus last year.

Soooo, the guy who was the back-up to Eric Hall is going to improve this year's LB corps? This, on top of losing Derrick Johnson?

No the guy that is going to take his place is an undersized kid named Rashad Babino, He either RS last year or was a rs freshman. Regardless, He is a sam mills type, undersized but just seems to make plays. He always did in highschool and according to all the practice reports I have heard, he is doing the same in Austin.

Note: I am not saying he will be as good as sam mills(see RB vs RT) just saying that is the type of player he is

Of the two new impact players at LB, Bobino and Kelson, Bobino redshirted last year and Kelson was a backup safety, so neither was on the two deep at LB. We have some other guys who were freshman last year who are much improved. Hall will probably still be around as a backup some place, but he won't be starting.

Forgive us if we do not salivate at the thought of an inexperienced, undersized player (in a deafening stadium playing the biggest OOC game in years) trying to tackle Smith in the open field (heck, Smith threw off one of our backup MLBers in the spring game).

ok, i think im confused. you have an undersized rs sophmore starting at lb and an ex backup safty starting at lb and your expecting your lb corpse to be much improved this season?

Well, Babino, if I am not mistaken, was all state his JR. and SR. year in high school, he is a playmaker that I can't wait to see play, He will be better than Hall

Kelson was a bigtime safety comming in. He is 220lbs and apparently too good of an athlete to keep off the field. He will not be even close to as good as DJ

Aaron Harris is considered by some to be our most explosive tackler and biggest hitter. He started at MLB last year and Should be even better this year. He is expected to be a stud. Also he breads pit bulls. That has nothing to do with anything but explanes the picture in hook'em's(I think its his?) sig

In a word, no, we are deeper at lb this year but the first three do not compare to the three last year.
