Game Thread Game Two: Ohio State 20, Akron 2 (Final)

Buckeye Wannabees
Toledo Blade article

Buckeye wannabes have extra incentive

COLUMBUS - Whether they grow up on a dairy farm in the west, near the banks of the Ohio River down south or on the streets of Cleveland, there's something about Ohio State that beckons the state's best high school football players.

For those other schools that call Ohio home, it's a huge hurdle.

"For the most part, kids in Ohio dream about playing for Ohio State," said Akron coach J.D. Brookhart, who will lead his Zips against the 12th-ranked Buckeyes today. "It's not always an opportunity that's given to them, so this is a big game for them. There's a little extra incentive."

That motivation seldom results in a win. For years, the Buckeyes wouldn't risk their domination of the state by even thinking about playing an in-state opponent. Since that 58-year policy ended in 1992, Ohio State is 15-0 against its closest neighbors, by an average score of 34-12.

The game is now on Dish Network in Bama

If you have Dish Network in Central Alabama you can watch the game on channel 439. I thought only Direct TV had the game on the B10 network but the channel was added to my existing package sometime this week because I didn't have it last weekend.

cheers

What adds spice to in-state games is that so many players know guys on the other team, and the players at the smaller schools frequently feel they were overlooked by Ohio State. That may not just be a perception.

I was looking at the Zips Roster, I did recognize one local kid on their roster. Jalil Carter played for St. Johns last year, he's a burner and did well in football and track. I think he's a CB. I don't know if he's playing though.

He and Dane played against one another on several occasions. I think Dane will want to avenge that last loss at the Glass Bowl last year. Carter covered him on D, it was an ugly game in the rain. TCC's winning streak was ended at 23.

I would think Dane and his fellow team-mates will be thinking about today and not about former matchups with some of Akron's players. For me it would be cool to see an old fastened ass wiping.

Less than two hours to go.

Go Bucks :osu2:

Yes but I am targeting a specific group of posters and didn't want to post the channel number on the end of a 70+ page thread. I wanted the intended audience to be able to read it right away before my message got buried on that enormous thread.

No because my posts intention was to inform members from Central Alabama that had Dish had the game on channel 439 quickly!!! The B10 channel thread has alot of unrelated posts and I did want it to get buried...plus when the post was made the game was about an hour away...I can't explain it any easier. I can see this thread is getting buried quickly with non-sense
