Well they later revised that downwards to just under 5 pounds.

So what about 2.2 Kilo Backpack Taylor (= just about 4.8 pounds).:wink2:

Ivan Maisel's 3 Pointer. Just found it interesting.

2. My theory about Texas high school football is that, as many players as there are, there are only enough blue-chippers to support two top-10 teams. The question is, which two? In the early 1990s, it was Texas A&M and Colorado. Now it's Texas and Oklahoma. That's the obstacle that Aggies coach Dennis Franchione must overcome.

Then you have to take LSU and USC into account, both of whom have a large presence..

They both get alot of talent from Louisiana and California respectively. I think that is the reality. Teams like LSU and USC will get some Texas atheletes as no school (not even tOSU) gets all the instate talent. I don't think it was a knock on Texas Highschool football or atheletes just an observation that only 2 title contenders have been able to be stocked by the Texas highschools in the past.

I am not sure if that made sense, but I tried.

I actually agree with you, I guess I just poorly worded my post. Yes both LSU and USC get most of their talent In-state, but they also both do their fair share of cherry picking the top talent....obviously not enough to support their teams, but enough to take just that much more away from aTm....This is especially true with LSU who has a very strong presence in Houston, which is aTm's natural area.

I didn't take it as a knock on Texas High school football...in fact I saw it as a complement. The only other state that supports two or more power house teams with its in-state talent alone is Florida. Not even California can say they do it.

Florida, FSU, and Miami all cherry pick quite a bit as well, a lot it being from Texas. Miami is notorious for bagging one or two of the top 20 Texas prospects. But yeah, I can't argue too much with that article.

But during the early-mid 90's, it wasn't just Colorado and TAMU. FSU and Notre Dame also filled up on Texas prospects. It used to make me sick (still does to some extent) seeing all those NFLers who went to high school in Texas but went to FSU.

FYI, the highest rated prep QB in the nation last year, Mathew Stafford, from Dallas, will be playing for Georgia next year. One of the two highest rated rated prep backs, Emmanuel Moody, from East Texas, will be playing for USC.
