Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

Right. So if Hamby had caught the TD pass, Young would've driven for two scores in the final quarter. He was just lulling us asleep, purposely restricting his offense to two FGs in 40 minutes. :roll1:

Perhaps you have forgotten that we were 4th & goal from the OSU 1 yard line with a freshman 270 lb. back with bad technique from scoring another TD, which would have put us at 29, 30 if our kicker came through. It's easy to remember missed opportunities by your team, but don't excuse the missed opportunities by the other team at the same time.

Uh, didn't he get stuffed? Huge difference between a freshman RB getting stuffed and a wide-open senior TE flat out dropping a perfectly-placed ball. And Hamby's drop was one big missed opportunity. Antonio Smith was about 3 inches from tackling your kickoff return man in the end zone.

Bottom line is that grampies was implying that Texas scored only enough to win, which was hardly the case.

You also forgot to mention that there is no way if the Buckeyes are up from Hamby's TD there's no way Zwick takes off like he did and fumbles the ball.

I am not counting a TD twice, you are either simply not listening to the explanation I originally offered - or choosing someone else's over mine.
Didn't you know TD receptions magically appear in a reciever's hand. They don't need help from a Quarterback especially not the best college quarterback in a generation. That's why the Bengals shouldn't be worried about Carson Palmer's injury because Chad and TJ caused all those TD receptions. Anthony Wright will produce just as many TDs. :shake:

I don't think "stuffed" is the correct term by any means. If you look at the clip (found in your section of Mili's Game Clips), you will see that Melton simply didn't lower his shoulders and use his 270 lb. body fully. I don't think that a man of Melton's size can be stuffed by a man of Yobouty's size.

I'm confused on this one. What exactly is wrong with this statement? Texas did only score enough to win. We are lucky we were able to score that much and escape with a victory. Regardless of what the outcome may have been if other circumstances might have taken place, my bottom line was that Texas was poised in a position to score once again. That score would have give them a third TD.

Likewise, Smith doesn't take a Safety. Hell, even giving Melton the score, it's not 29 - 30, it's 27 - 28 (Not that that's a difference, just a correction)

Not that it's a difference, but you are actually incorrect. Sweed caught the TD pass which made it Texas 23, tOSU 22...tOSU posession where Zwick fumbles...Texas possession where Melton would have scored the TD...23+6=29+1 (for the field goal)=30.

However, Melton did not score the TD leaving the score at Texas 23, tOSU 22. tOSU ball at 1 yd line. Smith gets sacked for safety...Texas 25, tOSU 22.

In my opinion, both methods of calculation are correct and flawed. One example gives all the credit to the QB and no credit to the receiver. I believe this is sandgk's intrepretation. For Randy's, he gives all the credit tothe receiver making the catch and scoring the TD. It probably lies somewhere closer to the ability of the QB though.

While Anthony Wright may not produce as many TDs as Carson Palmer, neither will Culpepper without R. Moss or McNabb without T. Owens. It just depends on which way you look at it.

Anyway you look at it, TD's scored last year mean jack shit come September 2nd. From that point forward, its TD's scored this year that matter.
