Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

Didn't they try at one time to breed the Longhorn with this little Highland Beauty? (Trying to make them less quirky as I recall the intent).

A rare pic of the "Summer of Love" Bevo.

NDC: Rusty ain't gonna happen w/TS: I understand, on good authority, that prior to dressing out for practice (and future games), Troy Smith applies WD-40 liberally at all the right places. Does wonders during playing time, both in games and social events afterward. No rusty there.

On to a new topic, Scoreboard Smack!! Per hornfans.com student pictures....Updates will follow as updates become realized...

Godzillatron dimensions: 134 ft x 55 ft= 7,370 sq ft of LED high-def display. Yea, we all knew it was going to be big, but this is getting scary. It just keeps getting taller and taller. Those flagpoles are over 100 ft in height, and the new supports for the board are eclipsing that.

Scoreboard with flagpoles as someone requested:

Impressive!! Is that going to be done by the time the game rolls around?? Also those players look like they have an endless supply of endurance I cannot believe what college football players go through now a days...

Oh, you bet your Buckeye balls it will be. Construction should finish by early August, well in time for the opener on Sept. 2nd, and the Showdown a week later. Good luck with the field goals into that thing. Can't wait!

The best that can be said is that it is a neutral image--neither positive nor negative. At least it's better than clearly wimpy imagery, like the hapless Beavers and Ducks of Oregon, (who picked those names?) or the Terrapins, which I believe is some squalid form of amphibian. While not exactly inspiring fear, the Buckeye is at least puzzling to opponents. You do have to give a nod to your chief rivals, in this respect. The wolverine sounds like a pretty fierce creature, almost like a werewolf. Names that inspire fear, like Hurricanes, Red Raiders, Bears are always powerful. Names that celebrate agriculture, like Cornhuskers and Buckeyes are quaint, but too reserved to really make an impact. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

a hard shelled nut which can be poisonous... sounds fairly representative of the tOSU fan base to me.. :p
