Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

Even my 92 yr old Grandmother know's 2 catches for 9 yard's last year for T. Ginn was the result of alot of things( 2 game of the year, the QB shuffle, ect. ect.). While I don't think UT completely shut's down Ginn or Gonzalez, I do think UT has the talent and experience to neutralize them, by that I mean that neither one of them as an individual, or combined IMO will create enouph disruption for the UT "D" as to force G Chizik to chang the way the UT secondary has played , and will continue to play, and that's in your face no air space coverage from the CB.

I can see tOSU secondary rec. (Roy Hall or whoever) maybe one of your Big young TE's being more effective. No, this is not HOMERISM, but, It didn't happen last year, and UT's secondary will be just as good or even better than 2005. My concern as it relates to Ginn and, or Gonzalez, is if they are running up and down the field on kickoffs and punt return's WHICH DID HAPPEN last year, then Texas is in really, really BIG trouble

You know, Ive yet to see a single preseason top 25 with Texas ranked ahead of OSU. Not 1. The reason they are ranked so high has to do with the OSU offense. Apparently, you Texas fans are the only people in the country who dont think that much of the OSU offense.

I get a real laugh out of reading your posts. Not only can texas lose 2 studs in the secondary but the guys filling in for them starting out of the gate are better... yeah, right.

You keep bragging on your offense that lost starters also, your center(huge loss) AND your only effective (AGAINST UT) WR- Holmes 4 catches for 73 yard's and your only TD. The rest- T.Ginn 2 rec for 9 yard's(WOW), A. Gonzalez 2 for 33 yards( at least it's double digit's) but I call that being contained. UT will cover Ginn and Gonzalez with either T. Brown, Michael Griffin, Ryan Palmer(will be as good as Ced Griffin) and A. Ross will help when and if a Double team is needed. Against ANY other defense, the Ginn and Gonzalez tandem will win more matchup's than they lose, but not against the UT defense, and the stat's up till now PROVE IT. If factual and statistical evidence along with sound reasoning are the guidelines for arguments, then any you have will fall on deaf ear's until proven(against Texas) not NI, or anyone you play after the UT game.

IIRC, The Cuyahoga caught fire in July of 1969...nearly 37 years ago. Thanks to the Clean Water Act (of which the Cuyahoga fire was a catalyst), the Cuyahoga is significantly cleaner. So, I suggest you get your facts straight before slamming one of our rivers...
i no this is old, just saw it.. dude our rivers here are pretty nasty.. im not trying to slam Ohio, i love it just as much as you but brown water is gross and the Cuyahoga is still nasty as hell

#1 - you didn't face OSU's best offense last year
#2 - OSU's offense this year will be better than that
#3 - you say "wow" about TGinn as if you wouldn't take him on your team in a second. drop that act.

-Funny how you bring up Chris Wells. You fault Texas for having "two freshman QBs who have yet to take a single snap in college", but for Wells just because he is the #1 RB recruit in the nation and had a good spring he "can hang with the big boys." Give me a break dude? Our freshman QBs showed in the spring game that they also can hang with the big boys. Please, just drop the homerism.

IMO it's much more difficult for an incoming freshman to play QB and orchestrate an entire offense than it is to play running back. But I'm sure that's just me displaying OSU "homerism," which is something UT fans never, ever do. :roll1:

P.S. The bumbling, stumbling, misspelling, ass-of-himself UTMNC was wasted on scotch the other day(once in a blue moon), but when sober, those wishing to debate better bring all the stat's.
Maybe its the haze of a hang over or maybe your just too stupid to get it.

The consensus is that Ohio State is a top 3 team. Ranked above Texas in EVERY poll Ive seen. Why is that? Sure as hell isnt becasue the buckeyes are returning two starters on defense.

Maybe your just to dull to put it together.

Who cares who shuts down Ginn/Gonzo/Hall/Hartline/Frost/Nicol/ and Robiskie? My question is if you do that who's going to be left to stop Pittman/Haw/Wells/C-Wells/ and Smith from running up and down the field. If I was Texas I would be far more concerned with your RUN defense than your secondary. You guys had a good passing defense last year and will be good again this up coming year. If I'm not mistaken your run defense was something like 30th last year or something? You lost 2 defensive lineman (including Rod, and spare me the talk of "we're replacing him with an all american") and you also lost your 2 best defensive players last year in Harris as well as Huff. Losing your high energy middle backer and 2 defensive lineman isn't a great thing to lose when you face a team that presents such options and power as the offensive RUNNING game we'll try to establish. Bottom line is you won't see that same offense and a matter of fact we dont' even really run the Shot-Ginn formation as often as we use to (we run it once in a while). If you watched Ohio State in the last half of the season you saw a team that came out and ran the ball at 4-5 yards a pop and hit you with a 50+ yard TD. We don't and won't pass ball 40-50 times. You'll see Troy air it out maybe 20-24 times MAX so I would say the passing game is the least of your concern.

Ginn last year was not himself against Texas. You guys did a great job on him last year and you'll prolly gameplan against him the same way again. However last year he was TOO HYPED, and too much was expected of him. I'm not expecting 200 yards outta Teddy but I do expect more than 9 yards of recieving. That performance was definatly not the Teddy we were use to seeing and he probably was a key reason why we lost that game. Because Last year early on our offense thrived when Teddy did well.

As for special teams and our return game. We're basically the same return team jus a year older so I look for us to have a HUGE day in the special teams department. You're correct in saying IF you guys give us that field position this time around we'll make you pay this year. We're just a more complete and balanced offense not to mention we finally have our starting QB.

You're taking away xray's favorite response. I know he used it earlier either in connection with Huff or their O line.
