Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

I don't think I would be in the minority saying last years USC offense was one of the BEST offenses in the history of college football, USC would have done the same thing to tOSU defense. I don't see any smack being thrown around here. What I do detect is whenever a Texas fan makes a argument about the breakdown of position by position, if we, In our opinion feel a UT player is better, has a edge, whatever you want to call it, and list at least some facts, we are called morons and the like. Example: IMO, Ted Ginn lost much credibility from HEISMAN VOTERS after last years game. IMO, that is just plain cold facts. Is that smack talk, IMO NO.

Yet again, you miss the point.

The point was Ohio State did a LOT more damage to Notre Dame than USC. Notre Dame had over a month to prepare for the OSU offense. OSU punted 1 time in that game. Im telling you that by the end of last season OSU was in that small hand full of teams that were as good as anyone in the country. And no, I do NOT believe USC would have scored as many points on OSU's defense. Texas didnt to OSU and Texas had the #1 statistically ranked offense going INTO the Rose bowl.

xray and you are the only regulars who have become notorious (there was one other, but I forget his handle). OTOH, there are a number of UT fans who have a lot of earned respect on this board, and not b/c of their viewpoint, but b/c of how they back it up.

seeing as you know next to nothing about OSU's team, it's hard for us to respect your opinion on how the game will fare.

In 2002, Carson Palmer was hardly being mentioned as a Heisman candidate by anybody after 6 games of the season. He went nuts in the second half, lit up Notre Ame on national TV, and won the award.

This was an exception to the norm, but shows that it's possible.

Here's a link to a midseason Heisman discussion in 2002 which doesn't even mention Palmer's name:

agreed, however it is much harder for a receiver to climb the heisman list than a quarterback.

Again, please show me of the 3 things I mentioned where your disagreement is. If Im wrong or delusional I believe there are enough RATIONAL horn fans on this forum that truely know the makeup of our team and can correct me.

A I do not agree that Texas has the best oline in the nation. You dont lose guys drafted into the NFL and get better. If you cant grasp that, then dont bother replying.

B You do not have the best running backs in the country. Heck the guy OSU has to face the week before is better than Charles. I mean heck Wolfe is only the nations leading returning rusher who only finished second in the nation in rushing while missing 3 games from last season.

And in no way shape or form do I buy that Texas has the best group of recievers. Not even close.

Other than not tucking the ball on the one play he stood up pretty well.
"Tucking the ball on the one play" wasn't his problem.

He'd probably have fared much better if he wasn't being punched in the jewels while having his head gear ripped off.

And now...

Back to Texas.

And now...for something completely different.

My outlandish and ridiculous prediction:

On July 30th, after his weekly Catholic Mass (or was it Episcopalian...I can never remember), Limas Sweed will join his teammate, Billy Pittman, for a friendly game of NCAA 2007 on his 360. In a shocking ending, the Sweed led Longhorns complete a 70+ yard Hail Mary on the last play of the game to defeat the Pittman led Longhorns, 31-30. In his celebration, the 6'5" Sweed jumps off the sofa and hits his head off of the ceiling of his apartment, suffering a rather serious concussion. In the resulting aftermath, Sweed elects to transfer away from Texas and enrolls at Syracuse, continuously repeating, "No...I'm McNair. No...I AM McNair." After sitting out the 2006 season, he somehow becomes eligible to play, despite the fact that he should be ineligible. Despite his pleas, the SU coaching staff refuses to let him play quarterback and puts him at wide receiver. He goes onto record 82 catches for 1744 yards and 19 touchdowns, winning the Heisman and leading the 'Cuse to a BCS championship. Unfortunately for the Ronneys, after being drafted with the first pick by the 0-16 Pittsburgh Steelers, he takes his signing bonus and runs off to Djibouti, where he becomes the sheik, forever immortalized as Sheik Djibouti.

Texas could have the best group of receivers ever assembled, but what good is that when the QBs have 0 snaps of starting experience?

Ask Detroit Lions fans how their three 1st round WR picks are doing. :roll2:

Once again, it all goes back to: What can Texas do, post-Vince?

Whoa there. Charles is a better running back than Wolfe. A much better running back. He will test tOSU's run d in this game. Wolfe will get smothered.
