Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

If the loss of Vince young (1person) and the maturing of Troy Smith (1person) is going to completley change the outcome of the game, then by all means explain to me how the loss of 9 (NINE) starters on defense gives you so much confidence, and don't give that B.S about replacements having some experience. Texas will have 8 (eight) starters on defense, so you know what,,, Troy Smith dang well better be improved, or he's going to be running backwards all day.

P.S. The tight end position, that you pass off so easy, cost you the game last year, and Texas is LOADED at TE. >>>>>Remember this name Jermichal Finley.

P.S. Don't even bring team speed to the table against Texas, we are a fr--king olympic track team.

P.s I didn't even mention kicking game,,,, If you rush our punter, you better be sure and get him,,, he's the second fastest guy on our team.

Lol.

Time for me to get off this thread before I get banned. Good Luck to the Buckeyes, it should be another great game in the National spotlight. I think 2006 will be a year in which one loss dosen't keep a team out of the MNC game.

Relax, you won't get banned unless you start attacking other people regularly. You don't have to leave just because we disagree with some of the things you say.

There's no correlation between Vince Young's uncanny scrambling ability opening up the running for his running backs, and Santonio Holmes' presence taking away plays from Ginn. The loss of Young hurts your running backs, while the loss of Holmes only provides more opportunities for Ginn and other WRs.

On a side note, anyone else notice that our two logical, reasonable, and articulate Texas guests (EngineerHorn and High Lonesome) have fairly generic monikers, whist our two new "guests" who get all bent out of shape if we don't bow down to mighty Texas (inVINCEable and UTMNC) have bandwagon-ish monikers?

-You may say that the loss of Holmes may open up opportunities for Ginn, but I see it as a way of paying even more attention to Ginn. Instead of having to shut down two great future 1st round (top 10) draft picks, defenses can now focus most of their attention to shutting down only one future 1st round draft pick in Ginn (if Gonzalez is also has future 1st round draft pick, then I apologize).
-I also don't really see how I would be wrong in saying that our RBs now get more chances, just like you say Ginn would. Charles should be getting nearly twice as many carries without V. Young and probably Ramonce to share with. I as a Longhorn fan am rather excited about what his potential could be this upcoming year.

-I don't really know what you meant by me getting all bent out of shape? I don't expect you or anyone to bow down to me. As a matter of fact, in a post yesterday I was wrong in one of my statement and I gladly accepted my responsibility and stated that I was incorrect. Not sure how you exactly define me as a bandwagon fan. Everything I have stated on this board I have tried to use fact to back up my argument. I only seem to get into argument with you Milalani because I think it is you who expects everyone bow down to. A perfect example is Hamby's "dropped TD pass." Despite providing official game data, you still wouldn't believe me. Here is the actual video of the pass:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzmOg7Y5oAY&search=texas%20vs.%20ohio%20state

Watch at the :55 second mark and pay close attention to the announcers. If you still believe it was completely a drop by Hamby, then that's fine. I just don't know how by providing facts, data, and video to try and uphold my argument; I can get labeled as "getting bent out of shape" and a "bandwagon fan." If other Buckeye fans feel this way, please let me know.:)

I think the main consensus here is a few on this forum want us Texas fans to not be able to sleep at night from worrying about the tOSU offense, I can assure you I get a full 8 hours nightly. For every improvement in your offense, the Texas defense has done the same, (8 starters back, and 2 who had significant playing time. And a couple of soph and a certain Frosh, that being Sergio Kindle, whom Troy Smith better know where #2 is at all times.) Feel confident about your offense, but also be prepared for what might be a trainwreck.
My brain can't let me get past this first sentence. What exactly is a 'consensus' that only a 'few' people hold?

InVince.. it was a drop because Hamby all but had the ball well before he took the shot which ultimately dislodged it.

I completely agree with you, and you will get no argument from me with any part of that statement. The thing that I stated was that on the official stats that is credited as a pass breakup for Cedric Griffin. Mili, however, states that it wasn't a pass breakup for Cedric Griffin and that Hamby just dropped the pass. These are the exact words of Mililani:

By the way, Griffin didn't "break up" that pass...Hamby dropped it.

Hamby didn't just drop the pass. It was dislodged by the hit.

Well, I won't dispute that the "official stats" have it as a break up... But, I will say - as I have on ohter threads - what the official stats say don't necessarily coincide with what happened. That is, I have physically watched a player fumble - and the other team recover, take possession and the game moves forward, only to see that officially, it never occured.

Splitting hairs, I guess. No biggie.

the point is the defense got beaten on that play, plain and simple... hamby just failed to make the catch.

ginn will get more attention (which will be challenging), but he can still beat his man with speed and good routes... unless he's going to be doubled all game (which will make life easier for other WRs and troy scrambling).

The zone read without vince is a big dropoff. Brown said it best when he described that the new QBs can still pick up 10 yards, but aren't going to rip off 80 yard runs. That difference will free up the defenders a bit.

I no doubt think that Texas's tailbacks are fantastic players. However tOSU consistently has a great defense year in and year out. We are talking NFL quality players. No team has been able to beat the Buckeyes with only a running game or a passing game since Cooper became coach. Not only that we have consistently good game plans. Texas's offense will have to prove that the new quarterbacks can make plays in the air before Jamal Charles and Co are going to have room to run. We won't have the same names as last year and won't have the experience but tOSU will have the atheletes who have played and played well. The Notre Dame game has been pointed out to show how well our offense played. But look at the defense that game. For all the Charlie Weiss bad-mouthing on this sight we all know the guy can run an offense. ND has probably the #1 quarterback prospect this year, maybe #1 overall. They have/had quality NFL skill position prospects for that game. The Buckeyes stopped them pretty damn good. I don't think that any UT fan has a right to call a Buckeye fan a homer on this sight unless he acknowledges that UT will not run unless y our quarterbacks can prove they can move the ball through the air.

Now my prediction: OSU 27 UT17. (There has to be field goals in a Buckeye game)

Edit: I might be being generous to UT here. Maybe its only 10.

Hey Mililani Buckeye, As you mentioned, my moniker (UTMNC) might be a little bandwaggonish, even homerish, that I agree. But I might add that the chance of my moniker matching REALITY is 100%..... While the chance of your moniker and the signed picture of the Hawaiian cutie, you and her matching reality, the chances of that would be ZERO.......

Start acting stupid and your welcome here will be short-lived. As mentioned before, we don't mind outsiders sticking up for their team but when you start hurling personal attacks, shit will fly. Oh yeah, ask any of the regulars here and they'll tell that I'm one of the last people you'll want to trade insults with.

By the way, the girl in my signature is a minor, so maybe you'd want to hit on her, but I wouldn't. Oh yeah, did she sign one of her CDs for you personally? Didn't think so...
