i thought you didn't "give a shit" about the consensus..
I don't. But unfortunately, there's a couple polls that determine our fate, and those
are the consensus. The SIDs and media wonks that fill out these ballots look at what the final scores are and not what the games dictate. If the game is played in a meteor shower, they'll have no idea; they just see that Ohio State only won by 20 against a 1-AA team. The ones that do look beyond the box score are few and far between.
That's why you have to ring it up. But, IMO, we'll score enough to avoid that.

lets keep the offense simple and keep everything off of game film, and let the boys play.
I'm saying that'll be enough. It's not like we'll need to air it out to build a big lead. I think the differences in personnel, especially up front and on special teams, are going to be waaay too much for YSU to handle.

you avoided the problems i posed with what you "believe".. if you believed the world was flat, i would tell you why i think you're not right.
lol...I don't need to avoid the problems you pose. If I remember correctly, the guy who said the world was round was in the minority. I'm not getting upset with what you believe. What you believe is fine. Your points are valid- duly noted. I still think we should either score 60 or make it very evident that we could have scored 100. The fact that it's Tress' former school may (and to most, probably should) prevent that; I'm not arguing that.

You're telling me this offense, one of the best in recent memory, couldn't come close to 60 against NIU.. but the brand new offense will have no problems??
How many 1-A athletes would you say NIU has on their roster? Now compare that with YSU. Like I said before, the beasts that we have on the lines simply don't wind up at 1-AA schools, whether it's YSU or not, very often. A Larry Allen is the exception rather then the rule.
Same thing goes with the coverage teams...where we just kill a team like Indiana is on special teams, where we not only have a returner, year in and year out, who'd likely be the fastest player on their team, but we have ten other guys that would start on either offense or defense matching up against a good portion of their reserves.

Where you and Petey would "ring it up" i highly, highly doubt Tressel would do something to his former team
I guess I'm fine with being mentioned with Pete Carroll. Throw Spurrier in there, too. While SOS ran scores up because of his philosophy (basically,
they should worry about stopping us), I think Carroll has the same problem we have- the players are on a different level and can't help but score. Like I said, I don't doubt that Tress will call the dogs off, but unfortunately, that's not a stat that voters are going to see. We beat Minnesota 44-0 last year, and it looked pretty effortless; we weren't out there running flea-flickers.

it's a stupid risk to have beanie wells running the ball when the games in hand.. risk the whole season to beat this 'lowly I AA team' ..
JTs a little sharper than that, i hope.
I don't know about Brandon Saine (whether or not he'll redshirt or even live up to the hype), but Maurice Wells is enough to rock their world behind a mix of our first- and second-team OL. That's the unit that'll likely be out there when Beanie comes out.

Couldn't agree more. Our bread and butter is going to do YSU like the 'Gluttony' guy in
Se7en. A screen pass will probably be the height of our trickeration.

Looks like you're the one who's name calling..
I've never seen a site where it's so acceptable to excoriate somebody with a different opinion. Where I'm from, a mods bounce your your ass
yesterday for calling somebody an idiot, especially a new person who isn't just like, "OMGzoRZZZ, YSU teh suXxx!!11!!" The mods did step in, but I've seen it in other threads, too. As long as I'm allowed to fight fire with fire, it's cool, but I'll never start a name-calling session. I end 'em. ;^)
Odds are, if you're a fuckstick, you don't need me to tell you, anyway.
