Game Thread Game One: Ohio State 34, Miami of Ohio 14 (final)

You can tell game day is getting closer. Tempers are really starting to flare over there at MTH. Wish a few brave redhawks would come over here and discuss. I guess it's only fair that the arguments stay on their homefield as the game will be on ours.
I'm a student at MU, but unfortunately I was a Buckeye way before I became a Redhawk, so my loyalties are definitely with the S&G. I follow our team fairly well, so I'm willing to discuss, but I'm beyond obsessed with tOSU so I don't know how much help I'll be.

As I've said before, MU has some playmakers (Robinson is the real deal at PR or WR, Nance should be good coming off his injury) but nowhere near the talent level, depth, or size overall. I've heard people comparing this game with last year's Cincy game, and that's fairly accurate because we'll be much better than we were last year and MU will be a bit better than Cincy was last year. I'll throw out a guess at the score of.....perhaps...34-16.

I take it you don't hang out on their board too much. Otherwise, you would know that you are supposed to forsake all prior allegiances when you choose your institution of higher learning. Sheesh!

Those people are a hoot. They spend way too much time (any at all being way too much) bitching about people who root for Ohio State rather than Miami because (gasp!) they grew up rooting for the Buckeyes. Sorry Miami folks, in Ohio, that's just what you do. Besides, have they ever stopped to consider that maybe there are good reasons why nobody grows up rooting for Miami?

If we played Iowa 2nd, this game 3rd, and Texas 4th, then I could see the "overlooking Miami" being a reality. But this is the first game of the season.

OSU ended on a tear against some good teams, and is out to prove that wasn't a fluke. Zwick and Boeckman can run an effective spread offense, and I don't think there is anyway they have the athletes to stay with Gonzalez at the 3rd WR spot.

They are talented but a little undersized, and I think we should be able to wear them out by the end of the 3rd quarter.
I definately agree that if MU can hang tough through the first half and into the 3rd, you guys will be able to pull away as yall wear them down.

They probably just prefer to bitch at BN posters because it's not a challenge.

Hookem, feel free to disagree with me but I don't think playing a sollid team like Miami is a disadvantage. It seems like playing a cupcake provides less of a learning experience than playing a real competitor. Personally I want our guys to get in as many lessons as possible before taking the field against the 'Horns. Perhaps we may have to give away a few tricks but we will get a great chance to find out where the team really stands. Yes, No?

Well, it will definately give your RB (still don't know who it would be) some valueable playing time against some decent competition.

Pittman will get some carries, but I think he'll be fairly ready to go against Texas regardless. However the big thing will be getting Haw and elite recruit Maurice Wells some carries... just like I bet your new recruit will benefit during the ooolahlah game.

Yup just a typo (meant MHT, miami hawk talk), my bad. Sorry, wrote that post before leaving for the weekend so I didn't have time to clear that up. My bad.
its all good.....i didn't even notice till you pointed it out :p

they really hate OSU over there. I find it a little strange, since most of you guys root for them in all their sports. just being on that site makes me want OSU to run up the score on those pathetic shits.

They sound like every other small time program we play with a serious case of big time envy. The only way you can tell if they have any class at all is how they act after the ass beating. So far since JT arrived the Texas Tech crew was the only one who openly talked on their own board about how wrong they were.

The ironic part is that TT is a BCS school. All the mid-majors schools fans talk all kinds of shit, watch their team take it in the ass then start the "oh well we almost had them.....couple of bad calls...woulda/coulda/shoulda... I didn't really think we could win....now lets focus on our insignificant conference season..OSU fans are dicks" bullshit.

I promise you will be able to find each of those phrases nearly verbatim in post game threads at that Miami board.

The funny thing is that you can already see them making precursors to those comments. They've already made simmilar statements in refrence to the last time we beat them. Your promise looks golden at this point. Can't wait to hear it.
