I don't think anybody does....since we haven't seen them yet.
We have the most efficent QB in the nation. Is he as good as Quinn? Of course not, but he can throw it.I've seen enough of our DL late in the season last year with 3 of our 4 projected starters on the field at the same time (Pitcock, Patterson, and Wilson) to lead me to believe that it'll be very strong from the very start and dominant by the end of the year. We completely stuffed Michigan at their place, and after ND's first drive we contained Walker to the tune of 51 yards on 13 carries. Keep in mind that against Notre Dame we were conceding the run in order to stop the pass...NIU doesn't have near the passing attack that ND has, and thus we can focus much more--in fact, almost solely--on the run.
We have the most efficent QB in the nation.
Uh, no, you don't. Returning QBs:
1. Carpenter (ASU) 175.0
2. Brohm (UL) 166.7
3. Smith (OSU) 162.7
4. Horvath (NIU) 159.4
5. Quinn (ND) 158.4
Quinn played against much higher competition and thus was a much better QB, and we did what we set out to do against him.
It's no more or less meaningful than a bunch of other stats. When I look at a QB I want to know:Which means shit.
Sorry the QB with the highest comepletion % in the natiion.

G-Force you don't have a answer for that one!one might say you sound a bit overconfindent on this thread about a road game against us.
I never said Horvath was the 2nd coming, all I said is that it isn't like we can't throw the ball if a team forces us to.Who was 5-4 last year, including that impressive home loss to Ball State...while completing 68% of his passes in that game. Don't think he's exactly going to put you over the top. And yes, I know, Wolfe did not play against Ball State...but if the lack of a single player caused you to lose a game at home to Ball State, one might say you sound a bit overconfindent on this thread about a road game against us.
Unless you meant "all the throws" I'm going to have to disagree there. I won't argue my point, since I'm pretty sure you meant "all"....at any rate, Horvath will probably be at least the 4th or 5th best Quarterback in the stadium. It's no more or less meaningful than a bunch of other stats. When I look at a QB I want to know:
1. Is he a leader, is he smart?
2. Is he cool in the clutch?
3. Can he make the throws?
A QB's rating is dependent on how his receivers catch and how they run after the catch. Completion percentage is dependent on how his receivers catch, they're just stats. Unfortunately there isn't a widely reported stat for leadership or clutch-play.
Krenzel had 1 & 2 in spades, and won a MNC, 3...not so much. I haven't watched Horvath much, so I won't judge him on stats alone.
Ok and he was 4th in pass efficency. Does that mean squat also?In 2002, San Jose State's Scott Rislov went 36-44-0 for 265 yards against us, at our place. The 36 completions were a school record and I think the 81.8% completion rate was one also. The kid comes in and sets school records for completions and percentage in a game, and so you'd think he had tore us a new ass. We won the game 50-7. Completion percentage means squat.
