Game Thread Game One: #1 Ohio State 35, Northern Illinois 12 (9/2/06)

I get the whole Ohio football devotion thing. ND has fans all over the nation who attend other programs.
I can't think of many similarities between ND & OSU fans. I've known far too many ND fans who don't know 4 players on each side of the ball. Contrast that with OSU, where 70,000 people show up at the spring game to watch all of the new talent before the season even begins, or 30k for a no-contact practice.

Maybe he's saying that Notre Dame has fans all over the country, who don't have any solid reason to be Notre Dame fans. Ohio State, maybe, in his mind, is the same. Fans from all over the country are Ohio State fans, despite never attending the University, or never even been on campus, or, in other cases, never been to central Ohio.

I'll agree that the "average Ohio State fan" that I know (myself included) knows far more about the Ohio State football team than the "average Notre Dame fan" that I know.

I see over on the NIU board theres a QB competition going on. Will Novak stick with the guy he chooses or is there a chance both could play?
Doubtful. I think the QB competition is more fluff then anything. I'd be shocked if Horvath wasn't the starter.

Btw, sorry about the thread on the NIU board. I was in a piss poor mood.

Saying something halfway positive about your opponent (even in jest) will get you thrown out of Buckeye Nation.:sneaky:

I get the whole Ohio football devotion thing. ND has fans all over the nation who attend other programs. Illinois is a basketball state, most programs have a far larger basketball fan base than football NIU is an exception. The Bears dominate what football fan interest there is in Illinois like OSU does in Ohio.
So what are your thoughts on Ted Ginn as a receiver?

Thats probably best for NIU, if they start flipping QB's I'd call the game right there.

No skin off my back, everyone has bad days now and again. Like I said, you've been over here trying to provide information and news about your team and standing up for them pretty much by yourself. You just gotta keep level headed, think EngenieerHorn and High Lonsome and not UTMNC.

Joe will most likely stick with his starter, but if the game gets out of hand (in the positive or negative way for NIU) Joe may put in our other "first stringer". My guess is that Horvath will start as well, but one of our posters that supposedly has inside information is suggesting otherwise. Only time will tell.

I wouldn't trust epasnoopy to hold my dog outside of church. I actually heard the exact opposite last night.

This brings up another question I have. Suppose it does get out of hand, will Wolfe and your other key guys get pulled to prevent injury? Wont really effect the game, but more informative for vbetting purposes than anything.:wink2:

We talked about this about 40-50 pages ago (thereabouts). No way that Wolfe gets yanked, even if it's 45-3, unless he's having a really piss-poor day...if he's approaching 100 yards he'll be left in to try for the 100 just so NIU can say he ran for 100 against the nation's best rush defense over the last four years.
