I've never watched a second of Game of Thrones, much less its prequel.

I've never watched a second of The Walking Dead stupidity either.

Not sure why anyone gives a shit about either of them, to be honest.

Is this thing any good? Or are they just trying to relive old glory like Wooderson?

It's only 3 episodes in, but I think it's fantastic. I loved GOT, but I like this show better already. This last episode was beyond badass, like seriously maybe some of the best TV I've ever watched. To each their own I reckon, but Episode 3 was so well thought out and well done from the individual performances, to the writing, incredible cinematography and graphics... that was mind blowing. And the ending of the episode was so brutal, but awesome. HBO is crushing this so far.

Also, welcome to Damon becoming the loved villain...he was incredible in this episode.

Which is even more impressive considering he didn’t speak a single word of dialogue the entire episode.

Didn't even notice that, actions are louder than words scenario I suppose. He had just been pretty much all talk up to that point, so now he's showing he can battle. Thought he was dead for sure near the end, that was a fun twist of events.

It’s been very good. Captures all of GoTs first three seasons of court intrigue without any distractions of White Walkers. Because the dragons are still widespread enough to be a good deterrent, they don’t need to be shown as gratuitous threats until absolutely necessary.

I’ve particularly liked King Viserys I depiction as a Stark clone, a fair and just ruler whose nievety blinds him from seeing how his advisors are manipulating him. He continually cuts himself on the Iron Throne and has digits amputated due to infection, which is an allegory to his reign where he doesn’t take legitimate threats to his house seriously and allows open wounds to fester.

On one hand, the last year or two of GOT was disappointing - and I wonder if the series was really worth it.

Then I recall the Battle of the Bastards and conclude: Yes, it's good and definitely worth watching.

HotD Ep 4 may have been the best Vince Gilligan-esque episode of the GoT franchise that probably cost less than $100k to film cause nothing happened, but EVERYTHING HAPPENED, in the series. That was brilliantly written and filmed.

Pumped that director is behind Ep 5 & 9.

Episode was fine, not spectacular, but enough of the really dark picture even if it's conceptually accurate. I can't see shit that is happening, abandon reality when it comes to being able to see a TV show. An occasional scene is fine, but not 90% of the episode. Glad I had captions on or I would have to have guessed what happened. Next episode, please be better.

I think tonight’s funeral scene justifies why they spent the first half of the season setting up the back story and time jumping —rather than just starting with the older actors as I’ve seen some suggest, which would have been easier to follow for many.

Without that history, I don’t think you get the full weight of every fucked up relationship playing out during that scene. I enjoyed it and think they’ve done a solid job setting up the momentum towards and anticipation/tension for the things coming.
