Rhaenys also should have Dracarys’ed every motherfucker on the dais at the coronation and stopped the war before it ever began. She’d already publicly cast her support for Rhaenyra, then balked when she could have roasted every usurper in the room.
In her defense, she hadn’t read the book and didn’t know that on balance, mass royal murder was an option worth considering in that moment.

Similarly, Alicent very obviously should have listened to her father regarding the clandestine murder of all their potential rivals given the things to come, but she didn’t have the foreknowledge to properly balance the outcomes that would result from that decision (although it seems naive of her to not have a better grasp of it).

RIP Lord Beesbury, impaled by the temple on a Bakugan play set.

I have a question about this.
What are the little colored balls that everyone on the small council gets passed and places in front of them at the start of every meeting?

They don't seem significant, but they weren't in any of the Small Council scenes from GoT seasons 1-7 and HoD makes a point of showing each member of the council place one in front of them.

FWIW - that probably wouldn't have worked.
Odds of attacking Dragonstone and being successful (clandestine or otherwise) are slim and none

My thought

but then we wouldn't have 31 more episodes to tell the story.

They probably could have red wedding-ed it if they really wanted to get their hands dirty.

It was Alicent who insisted on publicly crowning Aegon the next morning—Otto might have planned to delay the ceremony to invite Rhaenyra’s group back to Kings Landing under false pretenses before dropping the hammer.

They're to indicate which council members are present; like "clocking in" for work. It was a set decoration decision to have more props present in the small council session since all of these scenes from GoT were just people sitting around a table.

I feel Robert's Rebellion might never have happened if Alicent had just accepted Rhaenyra from the minute she was named heir and they stayed friends. If madness is a flip of a coin with the Targaryens, Rhaenyra seems to be the only heads of her generation. It seems after Daenerys quick flip from Breaker of Chains to Burner of Kings Landing they are making sure you know who the freaks are in HotD. I guess we'll see what the Blacks are up to next week. Maybe they are just as bad.

Ease up on the birth scenes HBO!

Yeah I really don't need to see Gray's Anatomy every week, enough of that shit. That was disgusting and seemingly pointless. I'm also a little annoyed with every character and reason sounding like a new prescription drug that sounds identical (Valeryz, Balaryz, Tackyheryz...being ridiculous I know, but I can't keep anyone straight at this point). Ready for dragon Skyrizi to take over.

With that rant over, actually a pretty good episode. Still rooting hard for Daemon.
