So I take it we're back on track? Best episode of the season. For all the faults others are finding with this season it has still been the best thing on TV this year for me. Good call going World War Z rather than Walking Dead.

Great job by D & D and HBO of not hyping the episode so the switch of the annual ep 9 epic battle showing up in an episode 8 unexpectedly ratcheted up the tension.

Just when you think Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse visuals are overused in Hollywood, you get a shot like this and it completely pays off.

Anytime anyone in any show or movie says they'll be right back or they'll be right behind them, death is a certainty. And so it was last night for the sexy Wilding chick. And she got sacked by a bunch of zombie fucking kids. Damn, that's cold.

When the writers went all "Walking Dead" they went completely over the Wall!
Now, anything goes!
Petyr 'Littlefinger' Baelish was the best story! The master manipulator behind the scenes.
But, give us more gorgeous women and epic battles!
It could be a lot worse!

I loved aFFC and aDWD. Loved. I know they're slower paced than the 1st 3 books, but I loved the dialog and small folk perspective. One of my favorite characters in any books ever is Manderly. The Dorne plot, The North Remembers, the (likely imo) GNC, Reek and fArya. Stannis, etc,etc...they were all some of the best written portions of the entire series, even if the head chopping and rape slowed down a bit.

Anyway, it's clear imo, that as soon as Beinoff and Weiss get outside of anything already on page, they fucking struggle and it fucking shows. It's pathetic honestly. They're taking a damn good series of books and fucking it up trying to stand on the shoulders of giants and tell the world how tall they are
I find the fan theories surrounding the books extremely interesting, particularly when reading multiple times to pick up hints that support various theories. For instance, the R+L=J hints in GoT alone are extremely convincing.

However, that doesn't change that many of those hints go right over a readers head the first time through. Given that huge sections of books 4 and 5 are setting (potential) things like the GNC up with hints, combined with brand new characters I found mostly unintriguing (the Dornish prince and guard, the Greyjoy stuff)- I found the books tedious on the first read through.

That said, I expect they will be much more enjoyable the second time around which I will hopefully get to eventually now that I am familiar with the theories.

If nothing else, it is fun experiencing the complete reversal of what is interesting (action first time- cryptic prophecies, seemingly meaningless exposition and dreams the second time) and what is not in the books from reading to reading.

So getting away from the battle for a second....the weird maester that visits Cercei in jail says as he leaves, "the work continues." If this is about the Mountain...I'm pretty excited to see what the hell he's doing.

Yeah, Qyburn thinks Victor Frankenstein was hampered by being too ethical.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe a 1 Mountain assault on the church to break her out?

My belief is that Qyburn will create a ZombieFrankensteinMountain just in time for Cersei to call a trial by Combat against her incest charges and the Great Sparrow.

One would think the Great Sparrow would not endorse a 'trial by combat.'

It's interesting to me that the Great Sparrow seems like a humble man of the people, other than, you know, the starvation of inmates, forced confessions, rampant homophobia, and hypocritical violence by his creepy followers.

Yeah, the Great Sparrow may not, but I believe Trial by Combat can be requested anytime before or during a trial. In my imo Cersei will demand it and somehow have Qyburn's monster fight for her.

My friend the History Major mentioned the Sparrows reminded him of the Reformation.

"Confess."
