If you want to know what happens, just read about it on the westeros.org Wiki. Rushing through the books is a waste of time and the material, you're not going to catch the details that make the text different than the show.

I'm not really rushing, I should have the books read well within a month. The detail in the books is sometimes overwhelming. Like four pages describing the iron islands. Martin could've just said they were fucking terrible, and I would've gotten it. Lol.

Knowing fans of this show who haven't read the books and watch episodes late is great. I've already heard three people bitch about the Purple Wedding being spoiled for them. All of them pretty much said "It was terrible. I was just looking at my news feed on a social media website with a billion users seven minutes after the episode ended, and there it was, my friends and family talking about the most popular television show on the planet!" People did the same shit after the Red Wedding and Blackwater. It's hilarious.
If you haven't seen the episode yet and a homeless man walked up to you on the street and said "Joffrey dies", you have a legit gripe. Otherwise, if you got spoiled, it was probably because you were being a dumbass.

Yeah for my sake I guess thats best. I really like the books so far. 2nd book has started pretty slow but Im pushing forward.
I obviously havent made it to Joff's death in the books, but I almost shit my pants when he died, and of course Tyrion was right there and being blamed.

I just watched the episode last night and thought it was very good. I don't care if they don't care how true to the books they are. Ex. Reek, he should be MIA for a couple of seasons. When I got to his chapter in a later book I had almost completely forgotten him.
It's taken me quite a while to read the books. I've put down book 5 for quite a while. At my old job I would read over my lunch. But now my lunches are much shorter and I never read at home.

I don't know what Aiden Gillen/the showrunners keep doing with Littlefinger's accent, but it's killing his "smarmy fuck" vibe. He was perfect in S1, now he's pedo Batman.
Both of Charles Dance's scenes were fantastic. I wonder how they're going to roll with Tommen now. They probably had to age him a few years to make his wedding less weird, but by the time they start shooting S5 that dude's going to be like 16-17.

On a different note. I just started Book 3 today. Brans story line was very hard to get through. Everytime I see his name on the chapter I get depressed. I really like how the books go into a lot of detail on all the tactical stuff in the battles.
