Just a thought in JoePa's defense, perhaps it was just that he's a nearly 80 year old man with flu symptoms and the pants were rain soaked. Or maybe he pooped himself, who knows.

Ohio State's offense rolled up 253 total yards, while Penn State's got 248. Does that mean that the Buckeyes' offense was "horrendous", and that PSU's defense "completely dominated" the Bucks and "never showed signs of letting up"?
I don't see it this way because the weather played a huge part in both teams offensive failures, however, our defense was still untested going into the game where as we all knew Penn State had a good defense, if we weren't going to execute (like we didn't for the entire first half) then we knew we'd have to rely on the defense and that was still sort of a question going into the game. Not anymore though, that defense did completely dominate PSU's offense that should be better with the weapons they have.
Penn State was definitely in the game until Jenkins' pick, and their running attack was certainly not "horrendous". Morelli was a major factor in PSU's defeat.
Again I strongly disagree with this, Penn State's offense was one of the flattest I've ever seen, they have yet to show any flashes this season. They were able to drive down the field a few times, but again they couldn't execute when they needed to if there lives depended on it, and that was because of the exceptional play by our young defense.

Penn State had two sustained drives, Ohio State had one and also scored a long touchdown on a broken play. So whose offense was "flat"?

If I were a Penn State fan, I'd have a whole bunch of "what ifs" about yesterday's game. I'm not saying that PSU should have won, but they certainly could have won, or at least forced overtime.

no they couldn't. they folded under pressure. from the shanked FG, which was only reprieved by a ticky-tack roughing call, to the 2nd missed FG, to the false start at the one, to the 2 pick-6s, they busted on every do-or-die play. part of it was the stellar effort of the Silver Bullets, but when Pitt scored the TD with 9 minutes to go in the 3rd, i knew 7 points was enough to win.

I don't think you understand my reasoning for why I'm saying what I'm saying, obviously you don't agree with it, but what I'm arguing is that both offenses had the talent to put up at least 350 total yards, neither did, so both were definitley affected by the weather, but also Penn States defense was expected to be able to somewhat contain the buckeyes offense as PSU's defense is good, but Ohio States wasn't, because they're "untested." I'm just trying to point out how well our young players did by stopping an offense that should have done much better than they did (much like ours, however their defense was expected to be able to do that).

Also I'd say scoring on a broken play is actually not only very exciting, it also proves that your offense can redirect itself and make something out of nothing... something I don't see Penn State being able to do.

Finally, I'm not trying to rag on PSU here, although I don't like them on a personal level, but I just think they were flatter than us and that if Penn State has to rely on its defense all year its going to have a long season.

crowd sounds like its finally into it... let's go D!
I'm sorry. I just got back from my trip to Columbus and I'm reading over this thread. This is the second reference to the crowd....and it's quite annoying. The crowd was as loud as I've experienced at the Shoe....rivaling 02 Penn State and 04 Michigan. It was like that all game, and considering the weather, that's pretty damn good.

Must not have come off well on TV then, watching the game the crowd didn't seem all that into the game until late in the 3rd when we started to rally. I attributed it to the weather. I've been to several games though that the crowd was actually quite lively, then watched the tape and it didn't seem that way.

I watched the game today. The crowd was simply muffled by the sound crew. The stadium was rocking yesterday.

I was at the game, and I would have to agree that the crowd was in the game from the start. The rain didn't quiet anything down. The place was noisy - especially when the Bucks were on defense.

As a side note (and this might belong in another thread) - I heard that the Bucks have covered the spread in EVERY GAME during their 11 game win streak. Anyone out there know if this is true? Granted, they needed some late help from the D yesterday, but still covered.
